Overview
The 2025 Honda Prologue FWD marks Honda's confident stride into the mainstream EV SUV arena, built on GM's Ultium platform. This front-wheel-drive variant, starting at $47,400, offers a compelling blend of familiar Honda sensibility with fresh electric punch. Key highlights for this practical adventurer include a spacious, tech-forward cabin and an impressive estimated real-world range, making it a strong contender for families looking to go electric. It’s designed to be the perfect gateway EV for loyal Honda fans and newcomers alike, promising a smooth transition to zero-emission driving.
What's New for 2025?
Everything! The Prologue is an all-new nameplate for Honda in 2025, representing its first volume EV SUV specifically for the North American market. Co-developed with General Motors, it leverages the advanced Ultium battery and motor technology. This FWD model kicks things off, showcasing Honda's "neo-rugged" design language and a commitment to electrification without sacrificing practicality. It brings Google built-in to the Honda infotainment experience and a comprehensive suite of standard safety features, setting a new benchmark for Honda's electric ambitions in the US.
Design & Exterior
The Prologue FWD boasts Honda's "neo-rugged" design, giving it a clean, modern, yet substantial SUV presence. It features sleek LED lighting all around, and the FWD trim typically rolls on stylish 19-inch alloy wheels that complement its assertive stance. Dimensionally, it's a sizeable machine, measuring 192 inches in length, 78.3 inches in width (excluding mirrors), and 64.7 inches in height. The panoramic roof, standard on higher trims, might be an option to look out for if you crave an airier cabin, but the base FWD still looks sharp and contemporary.
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Inside, the Prologue FWD offers a spacious and thoughtfully designed cabin for five. You'll find a clean dashboard layout dominated by a standard 11-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen featuring Google built-in, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Material quality is solid, as expected from Honda. Cargo space is generous, with 25.2 cubic feet behind the rear seats, expanding to a very usable 57.7 cubic feet when they're folded down. Unfortunately, there's no frunk for extra odds and ends under the hood.
Performance & Driving Experience
The 2025 Honda Prologue FWD is no slouch, zipping from 0 to 60 mph in a respectable 6.6 seconds. Its single Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) sends 164 kW (around 220 horsepower) and a healthy 243 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels. Expect a smooth, composed ride typical of modern EVs, with confident handling for daily duties. Multiple levels of regenerative braking, including a one-pedal driving mode, enhance efficiency and provide a refined driving experience, making city cruising and highway jaunts equally pleasant.
Range, Battery & Charging
The Prologue FWD is equipped with an 83 kWh usable battery pack, delivering a Green Cars Compare calculated real-world range of 293 miles, with an efficiency of 3.53 mi/kWh. For home charging, the standard 11.5 kW on-board AC charger can replenish the battery fully in about 7-8 hours. On the go, it supports DC fast charging at up to 155 kW via its CCS Type 1 port, allowing you to add around 65 miles of range in just 10 minutes, or go from 10-80% in about 35 minutes.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
While official NHTSA and IIHS ratings are pending for this new model, the Prologue FWD comes standard with the comprehensive Honda Sensing suite. This includes Collision Mitigation Braking, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, Lane Keeping Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition. Also standard are Blind Spot Information with Cross Traffic Monitor and a new Rear Pedestrian Alert system. Honda is clearly prioritizing safety, packing the Prologue with features to keep you and yours protected on the road.
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
Honda backs the 2025 Prologue FWD with a competitive warranty package. You get a 3-year/36,000-mile basic new vehicle limited warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain limited warranty. Crucially for an EV, the high-voltage battery is covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. To sweeten the deal, Honda includes its Honda Service Pass, offering complimentary maintenance for the first 2 years or 24,000 miles, covering certain factory-scheduled services, adding peace of mind to your EV ownership.
