Overview
The Chevrolet Blazer EV RWD is a seriously stylish, Camaro-inspired electric SUV that stands out from the crowd. Aimed at families wanting space, tech, and a massive battery, this rear-wheel-drive version is the long-legged marathon runner of the range. Its key selling point is its impressive range and generous interior space, built on GM's dedicated Ultium platform. Despite its early discontinuation, it represents a bold statement in the electric SUV market, though official European pricing was never confirmed before its production halt.
What's New for 2025?
The 2025 model year is a peculiar one for the Blazer EV. It effectively represents the final batch of vehicles produced after a temporary production stop was initiated to resolve early software issues. As such, these last-of-the-line models benefit from the most up-to-date software and refinements, addressing the initial teething problems. With production officially ceasing in 2025 after a very short run, this version is the most sorted and complete iteration, making it a unique find on the nearly-new market.
Design & Exterior
There’s no mistaking the Blazer EV for a generic electric blob; this thing has serious attitude. The design is heavily influenced by the muscular Chevrolet Camaro, with a sharp, aggressive front fascia, a dramatic full-width light bar, and sculpted body lines. It has a commanding road presence, stretching 4,883 mm long, 1,982 mm wide, and 1,651 mm tall. The RWD trim features aerodynamically styled alloy wheels that complement its sleek profile, helping it cut through the air efficiently while looking sharp doing it.
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Inside, the Blazer EV is all about the screens. A massive 17.7-inch configurable infotainment display sits angled towards the driver, paired with an 11-inch digital instrument cluster. The cabin feels modern and spacious, with sporty turbine-style air vents and plenty of room for five adults. Practicality is excellent, with a huge 722-litre boot that expands to a van-like 1,674 litres when you fold the rear seats down. The only real miss is the lack of a frunk, so charging cables will have to live in the boot.
Performance & Driving Experience
Don’t let the RWD tag fool you; this Blazer has plenty of poke. Its single Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor delivers a healthy 272 kW and 440 Nm of instant torque to the rear wheels, propelling it from 0-100 km/h in a respectable 5.7 seconds. Top speed is capped at 190 km/h. Being rear-driven, it offers a more engaging and balanced feel than front-wheel-drive rivals. Expect a smooth, quiet ride and strong regenerative braking with a one-pedal driving mode that’s perfect for city traffic.
Range, Battery & Charging
Range is the RWD model’s trump card. It’s equipped with a huge 102 kWh usable battery, which delivers an excellent real-world range of 511 km, as calculated by Green Cars Compare. Its efficiency is solid at 5.01 km/kWh. For charging, it uses a 400V architecture and can handle DC fast charging speeds up to 190 kW via a CCS Type 2 port, taking it from 10-80% in around 35 minutes. For home top-ups, the standard 11.5 kW AC on-board charger will replenish the battery overnight.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
While it hasn't been tested by Euro NCAP, the Blazer EV is packed with safety tech. The standard Chevy Safety Assist suite includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and IntelliBeam auto high beams. More advanced features like Adaptive Cruise Control and a 360-degree camera system are also available. For ultimate motorway cruising, top-spec versions offer GM’s Super Cruise, a sophisticated hands-free driving assistance system, though this would likely have been an optional extra in Europe.
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
For European owners, the Blazer EV would likely have come with Chevrolet's standard warranty. This typically includes a 3-year/100,000 km comprehensive vehicle warranty. The crucial battery and electric drive unit are covered for a longer period of 8 years or 160,000 km, guaranteeing it retains at least 70% of its usable capacity during that time. This offers significant peace of mind for the heart of the car, ensuring long-term reliability for the electric powertrain components.
