Overview
Volkswagen's electric flagship, the ID.7 Pro Tourer, is here to challenge the premium establishment. This sleek electric wagon is aimed squarely at buyers wanting maximum space, comfort, and cutting-edge tech without the premium badge price tag. The Pro trim offers a fantastic balance of performance and efficiency for long-distance cruising. With a new price of around €54,905, it blends practicality with a seriously futuristic feel. It’s VW’s most ambitious EV yet, delivering a spacious and sophisticated package that’s perfect for families and executives alike.
What's New for 2025?
The big story for 2025 is the full arrival of this stunning ID.7 Tourer (wagon) variant, bringing massive practicality to the sleek ID.7 platform. Volkswagen has also seriously upgraded the infotainment experience. The new-generation system features a much larger screen, a more intuitive interface, and illuminated touch sliders for volume and climate control—a massive improvement. Plus, the system now integrates ChatGPT into its voice assistant, making it one of the smartest in-car companions on the road. It’s a proper step up in user-friendliness.
Design & Exterior
The ID.7 Pro Tourer is a seriously handsome machine, blending a slippery, aerodynamic silhouette with the practicality of a wagon. Its long, flowing roofline and sharp creases give it a premium, athletic stance. Measuring a substantial 4961 mm long, 1862 mm wide, and 1551 mm tall, it has serious road presence. The front is dominated by a signature full-width light bar and sleek LED headlights, while the rear looks clean and sophisticated. It’s a design that manages to be both futuristic and elegantly understated, turning heads for all the right reasons.
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Inside, the ID.7 Pro boasts a spacious and minimalist cabin dominated by a massive 15-inch central touchscreen. The driver gets a clever, compact display integrated seamlessly into the dashboard. Quality is a big step up for VW, with soft-touch materials and a properly premium feel throughout. Passenger space is immense, especially in the back. The real party piece is the cargo capacity: a whopping 605 litres with the seats up, expanding to a van-like 1714 litres when folded. There's no frunk, but with this much space, you won't miss it.
Performance & Driving Experience
Don’t let its size fool you; the ID.7 Pro has plenty of shove. Its single rear-mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) delivers a healthy 210 kW and a hefty 560 Nm of torque. This rear-wheel drive setup gets you from 0-100 km/h in a brisk 6.6 seconds. The driving experience is all about smooth, silent, and effortless progress. It’s an exceptional long-distance cruiser, with a comfortable, well-damped ride and precise steering. It’s not a hot hatch, but the instant torque makes it feel wonderfully responsive for daily driving.
Range, Battery & Charging
The ID.7 Pro is built for the long haul. It packs a 77 kWh usable battery, which Green Cars Compare estimates will deliver a real-world range of around 496 km. It’s seriously efficient, too, sipping electricity at a rate of 6.44 km/kWh. When it’s time to plug in, the standard 11 kW on-board AC charger handles overnight top-ups. On the road, its 400V architecture can accept up to 175 kW from a DC fast charger via its CCS Type 2 port, getting you back on your way in a jiffy.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
Safety is top-notch, with the ID.7 securing a full 5-star rating from Euro NCAP. The Pro trim comes loaded with a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance systems. Standard kit includes Front Assist with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, and Lane Assist. The real star is the advanced Travel Assist system, which combines predictive adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping for semi-autonomous driving on motorways. Park Assist Plus with a memory function is also available, making this big car surprisingly easy to manoeuvre in tight spots.
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
Volkswagen provides solid peace of mind for ID.7 owners. The vehicle is covered by a 2-year, unlimited kilometre warranty across Europe, with some markets offering longer coverage. Crucially, the high-voltage battery is protected by a separate 8-year or 160,000 km warranty, whichever comes first, guaranteeing it will retain at least 70% of its original usable capacity. As with all EVs, routine maintenance is minimal, mainly involving checks on brakes, tyres, and cabin filters, leading to lower running costs compared to a conventional petrol or diesel wagon.
