Overview
The 2025 Kia EV9 GT Line AWD is the all-singing, all-dancing version of Kia's groundbreaking electric flagship SUV. This three-row behemoth is a serious statement piece, blending futuristic design with immense practicality for large families. The GT Line trim sits at the top of the range, packing in performance, luxury, and every bit of tech Kia can offer. It's a genuine head-turner that challenges premium European rivals. In the EU, expect to pay around €82,380 for a new model, with used examples starting near €67,950.
What's New for 2025?
For 2025, the EV9 GT Line solidifies its feature set after its recent blockbuster launch. Updates are primarily focused on software refinements and expanded digital services through the Kia Connect Store, allowing for over-the-air updates and feature-on-demand activations. While the hardware remains largely unchanged, the user experience is enhanced with improved system response and potentially new digital key functionality. The 2025 model year represents a maturing of the platform, ensuring all the launch-era bugs are ironed out for a seamless, high-tech ownership experience from day one.
Design & Exterior
The EV9’s design is nothing short of audacious. Its boxy, chiseled silhouette and "Digital Tiger Face" grille create a commanding presence. The GT Line amps up the attitude with aggressive front and rear bumpers, gloss black detailing, bridge-type roof rails, and striking 21-inch alloy wheels. The signature vertical LED headlamps and "Star Map" taillights give it a unique and futuristic light signature. This is a seriously big machine, measuring 5015 mm in length, 1980 mm in width, and 1780 mm in height, ensuring it stands out in any car park.
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Inside, the GT Line is a tech-laden sanctuary built with sustainable, high-quality materials. The dashboard is dominated by a stunning panoramic display, merging two 12.3-inch screens for instruments and infotainment with a 5-inch climate screen. Available in both 6 and 7-seat configurations, passenger space is cavernous, with the six-seater offering swivelling second-row captain's chairs for a lounge-like feel. Cargo is impressive, with 333 litres behind the third row, expanding to a van-like 2393 litres with all seats folded. Plus, a useful 52-litre frunk stores charging cables.
Performance & Driving Experience
Don't let the size fool you; the GT Line is properly quick. Its dual-motor AWD setup delivers a potent 283 kW and a massive 700 Nm of torque, rocketing this family bus from 0-100 km/h in a scant 5.3 seconds. The two Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors provide instant, seamless acceleration up to a top speed of 200 km/h. On the move, the ride is plush and serene, soaking up bumps with ease. Selectable regenerative braking levels, including a clever i-Pedal for one-pedal driving, make city cruising an absolute breeze.
Range, Battery & Charging
The GT Line is equipped with a substantial 96 kWh usable battery pack. According to Green Cars Compare's calculations, this delivers a realistic real-world range of around 429 km, with an efficiency of 4.47 km/kWh. The standout feature is its 800V architecture, enabling blisteringly fast charging. At a compatible station, it can pull a maximum of 210 kW, juicing up from 10-80% in about 24 minutes. For home charging, the standard 10.5 kW on-board AC charger is plenty capable. The European standard CCS Type 2 port and handy Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability complete the package.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
Safety is paramount in the EV9, which proudly wears a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. The GT Line trim comes fully loaded with Kia's entire suite of "Drive Wise" systems. This includes the advanced Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2), which provides hands-on semi-autonomous driving on motorways. Standard features also include a Blind-Spot View Monitor that displays a camera feed in the driver's display, a 360-degree Surround View Monitor, and enhanced Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist. It's one of the most comprehensively equipped family cars on the market.
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
Kia’s warranty is a major selling point and one of the best in the business. Owners are covered by a 7-year, 150,000-kilometre basic vehicle warranty across Europe. Crucially, this same coverage extends to the EV powertrain and battery, which includes a guarantee against significant degradation, promising peace of mind for the long haul. While complimentary maintenance isn't a standard pan-European offer, Kia provides competitive pre-paid service plans. Given Kia's strong reputation for reliability, running costs beyond charging should be impressively low.
