Overview
Get ready for Kia's most powerful production car ever! The 2025 Kia EV9 GT is the high-performance halo model of the brand’s flagship electric SUV range. This all-out, three-row family hauler is designed to challenge premium European rivals with its bold styling, massive interior, and frankly bonkers performance. It’s a statement piece that proves practical family EVs can be seriously exciting. With an announced price of €89,990, it packs a huge punch, combining luxury, space, and blistering speed in one futuristic package, positioning it as a top-tier contender in the large electric SUV segment.
What's New for 2025?
The GT trim is the big news for the EV9 lineup in 2025, taking the already impressive package and turning the performance dial all the way up to eleven. While the standard EV9 set the stage, the GT arrives as the dedicated performance variant. It introduces a massively powerful dual-motor powertrain, a reinforced chassis, and an electronically controlled sport-tuned suspension for sharper handling. Unique GT-specific exterior and interior design cues, including distinctive bumpers and colour schemes, ensure it looks as fast as it goes, setting it clearly apart from its siblings.
Design & Exterior
The EV9 GT's design is pure sci-fi, boasting a "Digital Tiger Face" and a bold, boxy silhouette that guarantees a massive road presence. Building on the standard model’s futuristic look, the GT trim adds aggressive front and rear bumpers, unique large-diameter alloy wheels, and neon green brake callipers for extra flair. At a colossal 5015 mm long, 1980 mm wide, and 1780 mm tall, its sharp lines and distinctive vertical LED lighting signatures create an imposing and unforgettable look that’s both rugged and sleek, making it a true head-turner.
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Inside, the EV9 GT offers a vast, modern, and airy cabin with a premium feel, available in both six and seven-seat configurations. The flat floor creates exceptional passenger space across all rows. For your stuff, there's 333 litres of boot space, which expands to a cavernous 2393 litres with the seats folded down. Plus, a handy 52-litre frunk is perfect for stashing charging cables. Dominating the dash is a stunning panoramic display, merging dual 12.3-inch screens with a 5-inch climate panel, all running a slick infotainment system with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Performance & Driving Experience
This is where the GT truly shines. Its dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, featuring PMSM motors front and rear, unleashes a mighty 373 kW (507 hp) and 739 Nm of torque. That’s enough grunt to launch this huge SUV from 0-100 km/h in a staggering 4.6 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 220 km/h. Expect a firmer, more engaging drive thanks to a sport-tuned suspension, but without sacrificing long-distance comfort. Multiple regenerative braking levels, including a clever 'i-Pedal' for one-pedal driving, add to the sophisticated driving experience.
Range, Battery & Charging
The EV9 GT is powered by a 96 kWh usable battery pack. Based on Green Cars Compare's calculations, this delivers a practical real-world range of 406 km, with an efficiency of 4.23 km/kWh. Thanks to its cutting-edge 800V architecture, charging is mega-fast. At a DC fast charger, it can accept up to 210 kW, zapping the battery from 10-80% in under 25 minutes via its CCS Type 2 port. For home charging, the standard 10.5 kW on-board charger will replenish the battery overnight. It also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) to power external devices.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
Kia has thrown the kitchen sink at the EV9 GT when it comes to safety, earning it a top 5-star rating from Euro NCAP. As the flagship model, it comes loaded with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems as standard. This includes Kia’s sophisticated Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2) for semi-autonomous driving on motorways, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with junction turning support, and Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control. A full array of cameras and sensors provide excellent situational awareness, making it an incredibly safe family vehicle.
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
Buyers can expect Kia's industry-leading warranty, providing fantastic peace of mind. In Europe, this typically includes a 7-year, 150,000-kilometre basic vehicle warranty that covers the majority of the car's components. Crucially for an EV, the high-voltage battery and powertrain components are also covered, usually for the same duration, with a guarantee against significant degradation (e.g., to 70% of original capacity). Kia's reputation for reliability is excellent, meaning ownership should be a hassle-free experience with predictable, though typically not complimentary, scheduled maintenance visits at your local dealer.
