Overview
The 2025 Lucid Air Sapphire is the absolute pinnacle of the electric super-saloon, a four-door family car that delivers true hypercar-humbling performance. It masterfully blends mind-bending speed with impressive long-range capability and an exquisitely crafted, luxurious cabin. Its main party piece is the tri-motor powertrain, delivering savage acceleration that redefines expectations for a road car. Priced from €250,000, the Sapphire targets the ultra-high-end market, directly challenging the likes of the Tesla Model S Plaid but with an even greater emphasis on premium feel and engineering sophistication.
What's New for 2025?
For the 2025 model year, the Lucid Air Sapphire enhances its bespoke character with the introduction of a new "Sapphire Mojave" interior theme, offering a dark, sophisticated alternative to the existing "Sapphire Stealth" option. While the bonkers performance figures and core mechanicals remain unchanged from its recent debut—because why mess with perfection?—Lucid has continued to refine the user experience. Continuous over-the-air software updates have further polished the excellent DreamDrive Pro driver-assistance system, ensuring the cutting-edge tech feels as smooth and intuitive as the car's breathtaking power delivery.
Design & Exterior
The Sapphire looks like a stunning concept car that drove straight onto the road. Its impossibly sleek, aerodynamic silhouette is designed to cheat the wind. As the flagship, this trim gets exclusive carbon-fibre aero elements—including a front splitter, rear diffuser, and boot lid spoiler—plus unique, staggered wheel designs. It’s a substantial car, measuring 5005 mm long, 1990 mm wide, and just 1408 mm tall, giving it a low-slung, aggressive stance. Finished in the exclusive Sapphire Blue paint, it’s a proper head-turner that subtly hints at the monster performance within.
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Inside, the Sapphire is a minimalist masterpiece, combining opulent materials with state-of-the-art technology. The cabin is dominated by the sweeping 34-inch 5K "Glass Cockpit" display, supplemented by a retractable "Pilot Panel" for deeper controls. Despite its performance focus, it's hugely practical, seating five in comfort and offering a combined 739 litres of storage between its 456-litre boot and a class-leading 283-litre frunk. With the seats folded, maximum cargo capacity is 627 litres. The fit, finish, and material quality are simply top-tier, feeling every bit its premium price tag.
Performance & Driving Experience
This is where the Sapphire redefines insanity. Its tri-motor AWD system, featuring one PMSM motor at the front and two at the rear, unleashes a staggering 908 kW and 1940 Nm of torque. The result? 0-100 km/h is dispatched in a neck-snapping 2.0 seconds, on the way to a top speed of 330 km/h. But it's not just a straight-line weapon; a sophisticated torque-vectoring system makes it shockingly agile through corners. To rein it all in, massive carbon-ceramic brakes come as standard, providing immense and repeatable stopping power.
Range, Battery & Charging
Despite its hypercar credentials, the Sapphire is a brilliant grand tourer. It packs a 118 kWh usable battery, delivering an impressive Green Cars Compare estimated real-world range of 624 km, with an excellent efficiency of 5.29 km/kWh. Thanks to its 900V architecture and a CCS Type 2 port, charging is mega-fast. It can gulp down energy at up to 300 kW from a DC fast charger, adding hundreds of kilometres in minutes. For home charging, the standard 22 kW on-board AC charger can comfortably provide a full top-up overnight.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
Lucid hasn’t skimped on safety, with the Air platform earning a top-tier 5-star rating from Euro NCAP. The Sapphire comes fully loaded with the comprehensive "DreamDrive Pro" driver-assistance suite as standard. This system utilises over 30 features, including an advanced adaptive cruise control with lane centring, blind-spot monitoring, and a high-resolution 360-degree surround-view monitor. Using a sophisticated array of cameras, radar, and even LiDAR sensors, it provides a confident and secure co-pilot on long journeys, making the Sapphire as safe as it is astoundingly fast.
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
Lucid provides solid peace of mind for its European owners. The Air Sapphire is covered by a 4-year/80,000 km basic vehicle warranty. More importantly, the high-voltage battery and powertrain components are guaranteed for an impressive 8 years or 160,000 km, which includes protection against significant degradation (retaining at least 70% capacity). While specific maintenance plans may vary by region, Lucid's direct-to-consumer model and frequent over-the-air software updates aim to provide a premium, hassle-free ownership experience with minimal need for workshop visits.
