Overview
Stepping into the fiercely competitive electric SUV arena, the 2025 VinFast VF 7 Plus is a stylish contender from Vietnam with serious global ambitions. Penned by the legendary Torino Design in Italy, it packs a visual punch to rival established players. The 'Plus' trim is the one to have, offering a potent dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup that promises engaging performance. It’s positioned as a value-packed alternative to rivals like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. While official European pricing is still under wraps, the VF 7 aims to impress with a killer combination of style, tech, and performance.
What's New for 2025?
As the VF 7 makes its official debut, the 2025 model year represents its grand entrance into the market. This isn't a facelift; it's the main event! For its inaugural year, the VF 7 Plus comes out swinging with a comprehensive tech suite and the brand's latest-generation infotainment software. It establishes VinFast's footprint in the popular compact SUV segment, showcasing a mature design and a robust set of features from day one. Everything is fresh, from the advanced driver-assistance systems to the vegan leather interior, setting a high bar for the brand's new chapter.
Design & Exterior
The VF 7 is a proper head-turner, thanks to its sharp, muscular lines crafted by Italy’s Torino Design. It avoids the generic EV blob look, opting for a sporty, coupe-like silhouette with a distinctive V-shaped LED light signature at both the front and rear. Flush door handles and aero-optimised wheels on the Plus trim enhance its sleek profile. The car's confident stance is backed by its dimensions, measuring 4545 mm in length, 1890 mm in width without mirrors, and 1636 mm in height, giving it significant road presence in its class.
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Inside, the VF 7 Plus boasts a minimalist yet tech-forward cabin. Your eyes are immediately drawn to the massive 12.9-inch landscape touchscreen that controls nearly all vehicle functions, creating a clean, button-free dash. The five-seater interior feels premium, featuring vegan leather upholstery as standard on this trim. Passenger space is generous, thanks to the 2840 mm wheelbase. For practicality, it offers a decent boot, though final cargo figures are pending. Critically, it includes a frunk for stashing charging cables, and both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard for seamless connectivity.
Performance & Driving Experience
If you've got a heavy right foot, the VF 7 Plus is the one for you. It rocks a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive layout powered by two Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors. This setup unleashes a properly punchy 260 kW and 500 Nm of torque, catapulting the SUV from 0-100 km/h in a swift 5.8 seconds. While the top speed is capped at 175 km/h, the instant acceleration is what matters. The AWD system should provide sure-footed handling in all conditions, promising a drive that’s both entertaining and secure, with adjustable regenerative braking for easy one-pedal driving.
Range, Battery & Charging
At the heart of the VF 7 Plus is a 75.3 kWh usable battery pack. According to Green Cars Compare's proprietary calculations, this delivers a practical real-world range of about 366 km, with an impressive efficiency of 4.86 km/kWh. For charging, it's equipped with a standard CCS Type 2 port. At home on an AC wallbox, the 11 kW onboard charger can deliver a full charge overnight. When you're on the move, it can handle DC fast charging at speeds of up to 100 kW, which is decent for its 400-volt architecture.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
While the VinFast VF 7 has yet to be crash-tested by Euro NCAP, it arrives with a full arsenal of safety technology. The Plus trim is expected to come standard with a comprehensive ADAS suite. This includes Level 2 highway driving assist, which bundles adaptive cruise control and active lane centering. Furthermore, you can expect blind-spot monitoring, a 360-degree surround-view camera system, and automated emergency braking. VinFast is clearly aiming for a top safety rating by making this advanced technology accessible right out of the box.
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
VinFast is making a bold statement with its warranty, offering one of the best packages in the business to build confidence. Owners are covered by an impressive 10-year or 200,000 km basic vehicle warranty. The high-voltage battery gets even better coverage, with a 10-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty that guarantees it will retain at least 70% of its original capacity. This industry-leading support provides incredible peace of mind and signals the brand's strong belief in the long-term reliability and durability of its vehicles, a huge selling point for anyone new to the brand.
