Audi Q4 e-tron: Everything we’ve learned after SIX months behind the wheel / Electrifying

Video Summary

The Audi Q4 e-Tron is a good-looking car that has a sweet spot for range versus price, and the 40 Sport model was perfect to test.

The model has one motor driving the rear wheels, a possible 321 miles of range, five seats, and a good-sized boot. From the bold Audi grill at the front to the squinting LED headlights, the big shoulders, and the full-length light bar in the back, the vehicle has a great look and is solid, smart, classy, and understated.

The grill gets covered in dead flies, especially after a long drive. It's based on the same VW group hardware as the Skoda Enyaq and VW ID.4 but has an Audi styling makeover, and the designers have done a good job.

The interior is very nice, with a mix of materials, surfaces, and a sharp dash. The steering wheel reflects the shape of the instruments behind it, which is a nice touch. Nothing has fallen off or broken in the car, even with "destructive" testing. Piano black trim is irritating because it's impossible to keep clean.

The physical controls for the A/C work. There is a crisp touchscreen, but the interface with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto is not as smooth or quick as desired and can be glitchy. The car contains more than enough space for family life, including the ability to fit a good-sized water bottle.

The 520-liter boot has hauled a variety of items, and more space can be achieved with the rear seats folded down. It also has a tow bar option.

It scores behind the wheel. It's one of the most comforting companions ever had. The e-Tron has been used for everything from long-haul trips to town and is quiet because it's electric. The steering is well-judged and the brakes are perfect.

For drawbacks, it doesn't have true one-pedal driving, which is a disappointment. For charging, 11kW AC charging is good, and 135kW DC charging is okay. However, the 77.6kWh battery does take 12.5 hours to charge from flat to full, though the user should be able to get at least 280 miles of range.

What does she think after 6 months of living with Audi's Q4 e-Tron? She finds it a serene all-around family car. The range is good, and it has a quiet, impressive, and easy ride.

It was tested in rain, sun, and everything in between, on long trips and shorts. She leaves the car feeling refreshed.

She concludes that it is a solid choice and a winner.
