Video Summary

The BMW i4 eDrive 40 has an efficient drivetrain.

The test was performed on a Norway route, driving according to the speed limit on the speedometer.

Overtaking and drafting behind other cars were avoided if possible.

For a Sunday drive in Norway, running the fans (not the AC compressor), and opening the windows is normal.

15% of viewers are from Norway, so this should be a realistic range test.

The test used the Eco Pro driving mode.

The car’s speedometer over-reports the speed so the driver went at 60 on the speedometer, about 56 km/h GPS speed.

Driving at 80 km/h was actually 77 km/h by GPS.

The consumption is 151 wh/km, which was expected to be 120 wh/km, as in Tesla, but uphill driving increased the energy usage.

The car seemed to automatically control AC, making it impossible to turn it fully off, but the heat setting, HVAC, was mostly off.

The BMW reached one checkpoint for 1400 meters over sea level.

When battery was near zero, 8%, the predicted km range was only 15 km.

Calculations on the data show this car’s estimated distance is about 671 km, 31 km more than the Model 3 Long Range.

The BMW i4 can go the distance and had “Bayerische Motor Werke” motor works, which is awesome.
