Video Summary

Here is the summary of the YouTube video on the BYD Seagull EV:

The BYD Seagull EV is now being sold in Europe, in at least 15 countries, and is its tenth model in Europe. Naming conventions for BYD are confusing as the car is known as the Dolphin Mini, the Seagull EV, and the Dolphin Surf. There are so many models, brands, and names in different countries. The European Dolphin Surf is larger than the Chinese version; the European version is 4 meters long, or about 7 to 8 percent longer and a bit higher than the Chinese version.

Due to tariffs on EVs in Europe, the Seagull is more expensive than expected and costs more than the larger BYD Dolphin.

Prices range from €23,000 depending on the country. A long-range version is offered for €25,000. Discounted prices run between €20,000 and €25,000, if purchased before the end of June.

The base model offers 322 km of range. The long-range version gets 507 km of range. The Dolphin Surf has five seats and uses the e-platform 3.0.

Tariffs on BYD cars are about 28% in the EU. However, because BYD is building factories in Hungary, they will sell at a lower price, perhaps 20% less.

Charging from 30% to 80% takes 22 minutes. AC charging increased from 6.6 kW to 11kW.  DC charging increased from 40kW to 65kW. Top-spec models get an 80kW DC charge speed.

In China, the Seagull was BYD’s best-selling EV-only model and was also the third best-selling car. A base model there costs $7,870 USD. The higher-spec car has a 115 kW motor for better performance. The 10.1-inch touchscreen is rotatable.
