Video Summary
The Ford Capri is a controversial car that has people talking.
Exterior design:
The car looks nice and is more attractive in person than in photos. It's similar to the Explorer, sharing the handles, doors, and overall design. The front has "Capri" embossed, a black visor look, and headlights are chunky. The headlights are tilted for a sleek style. There are six exterior colors to choose from.
Interior Design, tech & comfort:
The interior is similar to the Explorer's, which is a really nice interior, but a bit more personality would have been nice. There is comfortable front seat headroom, even with the panoramic sunroof. There are USB-C ports in the rear for passenger connectivity. Materials look like those in the Explorer but are not the same quality.
The car has a large trunk of 572L. It includes an integrated parcel shelf, a storage pocket, split floor, and space for the charging cable. The doors have easy to grab handles.
Driving, charging & range:
Normal 77 kWh charges at 135kW, coming out next year 52kWh charges at 145 kW. 10-80% charge takes from 25-28 minutes. The review was conducted with a rear-wheel drive with 282 brake horsepower.
Real-world range:
Select model: 390 miles, Premium model: 370 miles (due to bigger wheels) All Wheel Drive: 346 miles.
This all-electric car has great efficiency and a 3.6 miles per kWh average for the review. At 55% charge it shows 172 miles left.
Adaptive cruise control and front and rear sensors come as standard. Also as standard, it has a rear camera. One has to opt for a heat pump and that costs 1,050 pounds. It accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 6.4 seconds. The wheel options range from 19-21 inches.
Turning circle range is 9.7 - 10.8 kerb to kerb meters on RWD and 10.8 - 11.0 meters on the AWD option. Some of the cons are that the A-pillars are very bulky and there is a significant blind spot. Another is that it does roll a bit and is a little firm. A test driving model also had tire noise.
It's meant to have a slightly different suspension to the Explorer.
