Video Summary
The Genesis GV60 performance looks much better in person than in press photos. The loop style test starts and ends at the same point to counteract wind or elevation variables. Perfect weather conditions are present for testing. The presenter will walk you through the testing procedure, share information about the car and then perform the test to determine how far it goes at 70mph.
The Genesis GV60 shares a platform with the Ionic 5 and EV6 (E-GMP, Hyundai, Kia Genesis Electric Global Modular Platform). The EV6 GT will have more horsepower than the GV60, with 429 horsepower. Two 160kW permanent magnet motors power the car.
The all-wheel drive version of EV6 and the Ionic 5 have same 160kW rear motor, but a 74kW front motor. The front axle is physically disconnected in eco mode to reduce flux-related losses cruising on the highway under light load in normal driving, or all the time in eco mode. Smoother motor re-engaging in this car, compared to EV6 and Ionic 5. This may be due to larger front motor, or the software.
The front has a better look than the back. The Genesis has the nicest interior. The model has 429 HP. Has two 160 kW magnet motors. In eco mode, front axle is disconnected for efficiency. Switching to normal drive will spin up the electric motor and match the wheel speed and pull in the clutch. The re-engaging is much smoother than the other cars. Has a same 77.4 battery pack.
The car is not as good as the Ionic 5 in some areas. Does not have Hwy. Drive assist, it only has driver assist one instead of the driver assist two, available in the Ionic 5.
The projected range is 260miles. The highway and combined driving were similar. A small side-head wind contributed. The mileage during the test was 3.1 per kilowatt hour.
The test was completed and car was put on level 2 charger.
With two drivers in ionic 5, wind affects the test more than the weight. The roof slope helps the car. Met the EPA test at 70mph.
The active steering feels better than earlier models, with less lane wobble. The active sound cancellation is awesome.
Test concluded, 235.2 total miles at 3.1kwh average.
