The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is a true competitor to the Tesla Model 3. Its MSRP starting price is around $42,450 for the Long Range SE trim. The Long Range RWD can deliver around 361-mile EPA range, and the Dual-Motor AWD is around 316 miles. It looks like a Model 3, but rounds things out further like a Volkswagen Beetle. It has interesting lines all around, and contributes to the car’s aerodynamics. The lines slope down along with the sloped roof in the back. In efficiency and aerodynamics, it gets more range, since it doesn’t require more battery.The Ioniq 6 is 5 inches longer, 1.2 inches wider, and around 2 inches taller than the Model 3. Front has hood lines and adaptive vents, with design continuity using pixels all around the car. These pixels are used all over the car, and sometimes customers won’t notice how much detail there is around the car. There is a front trunk, but it is an afterthought. To open it, you open it like the hood, and it is the smallest front trunk.
The limited version is around $50,150 with same mileage as the SEL. Inside, there is a center console with a wireless phone charger, a USB-A port, lower-level storage, and the armrest has two USB-C ports. Window controls are on center console. It’s hard to turn on the rear camera. It has traffic-aware cruise control and auto-steer. It is not as easy to understand as to what it’s enabled when turned on. The main options are EV, map, navigation menu, phone, phone projection, voice memo, climate, warmer, valet mode, Hyundai Pay, quiet mode, and setup.
Compared with the Model 3, it is very similar, but there are a few differences. It feels like a lighter car, it is not as sporty, quick, there is more give in the steering wheel.
One big difference is the Model 3 now has a screen in the back that you can play video games with. The Ioniq 6’s side mirror is similar in size with good visibility in the blind spots.
