Video Summary
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has subtle design tweaks to the front and rear bumpers. These changes increase the length of the car by 20 mm. The rear spoiler is now 50 mm longer. There are also new alloy wheels.
Inside, the pixel design on the steering wheel can light up on some trim levels, and the infotainment screen has been updated and positioned slightly lower. There are more physical shortcut buttons on the infotainment screen and the center console. The wireless phone charging pad is also in a more convenient position.
Visibility is improved, thanks to a rear wiper.
The driving position is good, but the top of the steering wheel can still block the driver display. Climate controls are still touch-sensitive. Overall interior quality remains good, although some materials don't feel high-class and there are wobbly bits. There’s plenty of storage and practicality.
Passenger space is generous in the back, and with the rear seats up, it can fit seven carry-on-size suitcases. However, wheel arch intrusion in the boot is present, and the under-floor storage is shallow. It's not a height-adjustable boot floor, and removal of the parcel shelf offers no place to store it.
The lineup has new trims, including "N-Line," which doesn’t bring performance enhancements but does add sporty styling cues.
The battery lineup includes a 63 kWh and an 84 kWh battery. There is an increase in range with the new battery sizes. The official range is 273 miles with the smaller battery and 354 miles with the larger battery.
The 84 kWh battery accepts 260 kW charging, enabling a 10-80% top-up in just 18 minutes. The two-wheel-drive version has a reduced frunk space, and a four-wheel-drive one can only be had for a high price.
The car features revised suspension and noise deadening. The new steering wheel vibrations are reduced, suspension noises reduced, and the chassis is stiffer. It may feel sharper to drive, but the differences are not huge. Suspension remains soft.
