Is the Lexus UX the BEST luxury small SUV to buy? What goes WRONG?

Video Summary
The Lexus UX could be the car if you want to drive a boring car, but maybe not a good decision. The car’s paint scratches too easily, particularly in darker hues, and if the scratches reach bare metal, repairs will be very expensive.
However, compared to rival SUVs that can have a host of exterior gremlins, the UX tends to avoid them.
The UX shares its platform with the Toyota Corolla Cross. Models from 2019–2023 had two models with two power plants in three trim specs, and there were a couple of enhancement packs.
In 2023, there was a mid-cycle update. An EV joined the range, but it was only available in two trim specs. In 2024, Lexus discontinued the petrol models and the hybrid UX250h.
Used prices range from $25,000 to $85,000 in Australia.
Interior plastics can scratch really easily, and the pre-updated models have an infotainment system that is old and slow and whose graphics are dated. This was upgraded for 2023. If you’re left-handed, in a right-hand drive, using the trackpad is difficult, and it is on the sensitive side. For Bluetooth dropping out or Apple CarPlay or Android Auto dropping out, the UX generally does not seem to have that as an issue. The Lexus UX has very comfortable seats. And ergonomically, it’s spot-on.
The interior has a lot going on, with plenty of levels, different textures and colors, particularly blacks and slight browns. Some think it resembles complex origami. Overall build quality is strong.
The UX has the smallest boot in its class. For all wheel drive, the space is even smaller. This may not be a concern if you mostly use the vehicle for commuting.
There are common issues with the water pump that runs on electricity. It has plastic parts and it can get stuck. It is extremely uncommon. They do begin to leak at around 80,000 kilometers. Replacing it is not too expensive. The exhaust gas recirculation valve can get stuck either opened or closed.
Lexus is known for high customer retention rates.
Run-flat tires amplify the road noise. It is highly recommended to ditch run-flats for better tires, which transforms the car. Servicing should occur every 12 months / 15,000 kilometers, though service intervals may be increased every 10,000 kilometers for extra car life.
