Video Summary

The Lotus Emeya R is a heavy GT car, weighing over 2,600 kg.  The vehicle has more than 900 horsepower, and goes from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 2.78 seconds.  The battery has 102 kWh of net capacity. The car can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes. During testing, the maximum charging power was about 295 kW with a good charging curve.

The Emeya's range is limited to around 300-350 kilometers with a sporty driving style, this is a result of the ultra-sporty version, tires, and large rims. The average consumption is approximately 27 kWh/100 km. The excellent charging speed allows it to still be a good highway vehicle. The more efficient entry-level version provides better range and is better priced.

The Emeya entry-level has good performance at 0 to 100 km/h in 4.15 seconds and 612 horsepower. It has better range (500-580 km WLTP) compared to 435-455 km for the R version. The entry-level starts at approximately 84,237 Swiss francs in Switzerland or 109,690 euros in France.  The fully optioned tested car costs approximately 144,000 Swiss francs. The car offers more features than a Tesla Model S for the same price. The price has also had a big drop in Switzerland.

It is possible to get a more budget-friendly vehicle by choosing the entry-level version. The reviewer enjoys the steering with the alcantara wheel option. The Emeya is enjoyable to drive overall with good comfort from the adaptive suspension. A minor drawback is that the driving position could be more adjustable for taller drivers.

All interior materials are high quality and the car has no hard plastic.  The seats are heated, massaging, and ventilated, while offering good lateral support. However, the trunk is relatively small at just over 400 liters, with a high floor, limiting how much the vehicle can load at that location. The rear of the vehicle is configured as a four-seater, and it is better to choose the panoramic roof which provides more head room to rear-seated occupants.
Overall the software is too layered, making it complicated to use. However, there is Dolby Atmos audio, as well as Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity. The navigation system can provide routes including charge points and condition the battery, but it is still recommended to use smartphone app integrations. Rear view cameras are poor in quality. Semi-autonomous driving needs improvement, the car shows instabilities by applying small steering maneuvers randomly.  The power of the car is so impressive that it is easy to feel as though the car is sliding on the road.
