Mustang Mach-E 2021 review - an EV that you actually want!

Video Summary

The reviewed Ford Mustang Mach-E starts at just over £40,000 in the UK, and doesn't qualify for a government plug-in grant.

This car has a coupé-like rear window.

The lights are just like the lights on the Mustang Coupé with a large pony badge.

There are no Ford badges on the car.

The look of the car has significant Mustang influence.

The sloping roof line looks very sporty, but there is also an expanse of the body and quite a raised ride height for an SUV.

The two-tone roof section makes it look more coupé-like, but the roof is much higher than it seems.

The interior feels worth £40,000, with good materials and solid feel.

The texture on the dash feels great, and the design is interesting.

Interior quality exceeds Volkswagen’s ID range.

The driver’s display is clear and unblocked regardless of steering wheel position.

The physical volume knob built into the screen is weird and unnecessary.

Climate control is on the screen but easy to access.

The climate controls is a little annoying to operate.

The Mach-E features a very large back seat.

The car tested here comes with a panoramic glass roof, an upgraded Bang and Olufsen sound system, and 360 cameras.

Headroom is good, just slightly more than the iX3 by BMW.

There are plenty of spaces for people’s feet in the second row.

The Mach-E’s boot is 402 liters, with a load lip to lift over.

There’s a smaller load amount as compared to Volkswagen’s ID4.

The boot has an adjustable floor for a nearly flat loading bay with tie-down points.

The car did not have a spare tire.

Because the car was built as an electric car, there is no engine, and 81 liters of storage has been added as a 'frunk' area under the hood.

There are fake vents around the blanked-out grille on the front of the car, with lower vents that open and close.

Driving quickly, steering has a rubbery feel and isn't quite connected to the wheels.

While it corners well, this is a heavy car.

The suspension feels bouncy around town.

The entry-level model delivers 269 horsepower and a range of 273 miles.

With the larger extended range battery you can get up to 379 miles and an increase to 294 horsepower.

The test vehicle featured an 88 kWh battery and achieved 247 miles range.

The Mach-E can be short-listed as a premium electric SUV, because of its good looks and premium feel.
