Peugeot e-208 2020 vs. 2024: les évolutions en quatre ans !

Uploaded 1 year ago by Simplement Julien

Video Summary

The 2024 Peugeot e-208 has a more aggressive front with body-colored inserts in the grille and a new Peugeot logo. The older logo loses its color. The new model has different headlight optics and a new light signature, but the vertical light feature is less emphasized than on the 2020 model. The 2024 model has new wheel design, although the reviewer likes the 2024 wheel design a lot, and some adaptations on the e-logo. The trunks on both models are comparable. The charging port is in the same location on both models.

In 2020, the heat pump came standard, but in the 2024 model, it is optional. AC charging has not changed: it's 7.4 kW single-phase (standard) and up to 11kW tri-phase (optional). DC charging goes to 100 kW. A 10-80% charge takes 25-30 minutes.

The new GT trim has a 156-horsepower motor and a slightly larger 54 kWh battery. Older versions had a 136-horsepower motor with a 50 kWh battery. The new engine is combined with the battery pack of 54 kWh (gross), or 51 kWh net, as compared to 50 kWh (gross) or 46 kWh (net) for the 2020 version.

Interior differences include two USB-C ports in the 2024 model (as opposed to one USB-C port and one USB-A port in the older model). The seat design is also slightly changed, and 2024 models have massage seats. The GT inscription has been redesigned, and there's a new Stellantis gearshift. The new model also has wireless Apple CarPlay. In general, the Apple CarPlay integration is much better than before, with a wider integration. The instrument panel shows light design improvements.

Tests revealed the new model and motor were not necessarily more performant on acceleration, however, the new model was clearly more efficient: 12.9 kWh/100 km as opposed to 14.1 kWh/100 km. The newer model is more expensive (over $40,000 in Switzerland or France, as opposed to $20-25k used.) The older model is out of warranty in most cases. The newer model is more advantageous if you get a lease. Overall, there have not been huge evolutions over the 4 years. Due to longer range and lower energy consumption, the newer model may remove a charging stop on long journeys. It depends on your taste and usage, if it's worth going new. The competition is more advanced, as Tesla sees more progress over the same time period.
