Tesla Model S PLAID Owner's Review: Things I Love and Hate!

Uploaded 2 years ago by Auto Focus

Video Summary

The Tesla Model S Plaid has a decade-old design, though its silhouette is still considered good-looking and has gotten some facelifts. This particular model is one and a half years old and does not have the new headlights, but it has the new fog lights up front. The vehicle has the carbon brake package, one motor between the front two wheels, and two motors between the rear two wheels. With 1,020 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque, the car can accelerate from 0 to 60 in two seconds on a prepped surface. When first purchased, the range on a full charge was nearly 400 miles, but now it shows around 365 miles.

The phone app is reliable as a key and allows climate control and other functions, like locating the car. The front trunk is not powered, which is a disadvantage for such a luxury-priced vehicle. The rear passenger seats are decent but not as large as expected for the size of the car. The back console has climate control, music options, and charging ports. The Model S Plaid's interior has good build quality and comfort. The car has little to no real buttons or knobs for car functions, and instead, controls are mostly through the touchscreen.

For this Model S Plaid, the capacitive touch buttons on the yoke for turn signals are unresponsive at times. The rear seats are not auto-folding. The claim for a 200mph top speed is untrue, as the maximum speed on track mode is 175 mph. The regenerative braking and general driving experience is enjoyable for driving on American roads. Centry mode and built-in dashcam are highly useful and should be available in all cars.

Overall, the Model S Plaid is a great daily driver, particularly because of Tesla's charging infrastructure and the software.
