State Incentives
Arizona provides state and private incentives for EV owners. Statewide, EVs with an AFV plate can use HOV lanes at any time and park in designated carpool spaces. Private incentives include rebates and TOU rates: SRP offers a $250 rebate for EV chargers, a $50 bill credit for joining the SRP EV Community, and TOU rates. APS provides TOU rates and a Smart Charge Program with a $25 enrollment credit and $5 monthly incentive. TEP offers up to $500 for EV chargers and TOU rates. ED3 provides up to $250 for EV chargers.

Arizona High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lane Exemption
Category: HOV Lane Access If you have an electric vehicle (AFV) special plate, you can use the HOV freeway lanes at any time, regardless of the number of passengers. This exemption expires on September 20, 2025. -
Arizona EV Parking Incentive
Category: Other An individual driver of an EV may park without penalty in parking areas that are designated for carpool operators. -
Residential EV Charging Station Rebate • Salt River Project
Category: Charger Rebates SRP offers residential customers a $250 rebate for the purchase of a qualifying AC Level 2 EV charging station. A $50 bill credit is available for customers who join the SRP EV Community. -
EV TOU Rate • Arizona Public Service Company
Category: Electricity Discounts APS offers a TOU rate for residential customers that own an EV. -
EV TOU Rate • Salt River Project
Category: Electricity Discounts SRP offers a TOU rate for residential customers that own or lease an EV. -
EV Charging Program • Arizona Public Service Company
Category: Electricity Discounts Customers who enroll in the APS Smart Charge Program may earn a $25 bill enrollment credit and an additional $5 monthly participation incentive. -
EV Charging Station Rebate • Tucson Electric Power
Category: Charger Rebates TEP offers residential customers a rebate of up to $500 for the purchase of a Level 2 or direct current fast charging (DCFC) station. Rebate amounts vary by EV charging station amperage. -
EV TOU Rate • Tucson Electric Power
Category: Electricity Discounts TEP offers single or three-phase time-of-use (TOU) rates for residential customers with EVs. -
EV Charger Rebate • Electrical District No. 3
Category: Charger Rebates Electrical District No. 3 offers a rebate of up to $250 for the purchase and installation of a qualifying EV Level 2 charging station. Limit: 1 rebate per residence.

Federal Incentives
The U.S. federal government offers EV tax credits to make going electric more affordable! New EV buyers may qualify for up to a $7,500 tax credit, depending on the car’s specs and buyer’s income. For pre-owned EVs, you could receive up to $4,000. Plus, homeowners in low-income or rural areas can get up to $1,000 for installing an EV charger.

Federal Tax Credit for New Electric Vehicles
Category: Tax Benefits All-electric vehicles purchased new in 2023 or after may be eligible for a federal income tax credit of up to $7,500. The credit is nonrefundable, so you can't get back more on the credit than you owe in taxes. Also, you can't apply any excess credit to future tax years.
The availability of the credit will depend on several factors: Vehicle's MSRP, Final assembly location, Battery component and/or critical minerals sourcing, Taxpayer’s modified adjusted gross income (AGI). -
Federal Tax Credit for Pre-Owned Electric Vehicles
Category: Tax Benefits Pre-owned all-electric vehicles purchased in 2023 or after may be eligible for a federal income tax credit. The credit equals 30% percent of the sale price up to a maximum credit of $4,000. The credit is nonrefundable, so you can't get back more on the credit than you owe in taxes. Also, you can't apply any excess credit to future tax years.
The vehicle must be purchased from a dealer, have a sale price of $25,000 or less, and must have a model year two years prior to the current calendar year. -
Federal EV Charger Tax Credit
Category: Tax Benefits Individuals in low-income communities and non-urban areas who purchase qualified residential EV charger after January 1, 2023, may receive a tax credit of up to $1,000.
In order to qualify, individuals need to be located in low-income community census tracts or non-urban census tracts as defined in IRS Notice 2024-20.
