State Incentives
Texas offers several incentives for EV owners. You can get rebates on Level 2 chargers from utilities like Entergy, SWEPCO, Austin Energy, CPS Energy, and United Cooperative Services. Some utilities also offer time-of-use (TOU) electricity rates, allowing you to save money by charging your EV during off-peak hours. Additionally, CPS Energy has a pilot program that gives EV owners unlimited access to their public charging network for a low annual fee.

Category: Electricity Discounts Austin Energy offers a TOU rate to residential customers who own or lease eligible EVs. -
EV Charging Network Pilot Program • CPS Energy
Category: Other CPS offers residential customers who own an EV unlimited access to the FlexEV Public Charging program network for an annual fee of $96 per EV. -
EV Charging Station Rate Incentives • CPS Energy
Category: Electricity Discounts The CPS Energy FlexEV Smart Rewards program offers a $250 bill credit to residential customers who own a smart Level 2 EV charging station.
The CPS Energy FlexEV Off-Peak Rewards program offers residential customers a $125 bill credit for charging during off-peak hours. Customers may earn an additional $10 bill credit per month if they limit charging during peak hours to twice a month. -

Category: Charger Rebates SWEPCO offers residential customers a $250 rebate for the installation of an ENERGY STAR-certified Level 2 EV charging station. -
Residential EV Charging Station Rebate • Austin Energy
Category: Charger Rebates Austin Energy offers residential customers who own an EV a rebate of 50% of the cost to purchase and install a qualified Level 2 EV charging station, up to $1,200. -
EV Charging Station Rebate • United Cooperative Services
Category: Charger Rebates UCS offers residential customers a rebate of 50% of the cost to install a Level 2 EV charging station, up to $500. Eligible customers must agree to charge EVs during off-peak hours. -

Federal Incentives
The U.S. federal government offers EV tax credits to make going electric more affordable! New EV buyers may qualify for up to a $7,500 tax credit, depending on the car’s specs and buyer’s income. For pre-owned EVs, you could receive up to $4,000. Plus, homeowners in low-income or rural areas can get up to $1,000 for installing an EV charger.

Federal Tax Credit for New Electric Vehicles
Category: Tax Benefits All-electric vehicles purchased new in 2023 or after may be eligible for a federal income tax credit of up to $7,500. The credit is nonrefundable, so you can't get back more on the credit than you owe in taxes. Also, you can't apply any excess credit to future tax years.
The availability of the credit will depend on several factors: Vehicle's MSRP, Final assembly location, Battery component and/or critical minerals sourcing, Taxpayer’s modified adjusted gross income (AGI). -
Federal Tax Credit for Pre-Owned Electric Vehicles
Category: Tax Benefits Pre-owned all-electric vehicles purchased in 2023 or after may be eligible for a federal income tax credit. The credit equals 30% percent of the sale price up to a maximum credit of $4,000. The credit is nonrefundable, so you can't get back more on the credit than you owe in taxes. Also, you can't apply any excess credit to future tax years.
The vehicle must be purchased from a dealer, have a sale price of $25,000 or less, and must have a model year two years prior to the current calendar year. -
Federal EV Charger Tax Credit
Category: Tax Benefits Individuals in low-income communities and non-urban areas who purchase qualified residential EV charger after January 1, 2023, may receive a tax credit of up to $1,000.
In order to qualify, individuals need to be located in low-income community census tracts or non-urban census tracts as defined in IRS Notice 2024-20.
