Video Summary

The Hyundai Ioniq 9 rides on Hyundai's electric global modular platform and is Korean market spec. It boasts a long wheelbase, boat-inspired exterior, and a roomy interior that seats seven. Aerodynamic elements contribute to a low drag coefficient of 0.26, which is better than the smaller Ioniq 5.

Digital side-view mirrors, while advanced, are a little distracting to the reviewer. The Ioniq 9 has a 110.3 kWh battery and comes in rear or all-wheel drive. The base long-range RWD model produces 216 hp, while the AWD model generates 308 hp, and the performance Calligraphy AWD offers 429 hp and hits 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. The long range RWD model has a 0-60 mph time of 9.4 seconds. It can tow up to 5000 lbs when properly equipped.

After testing it, the car drives normally and has a good amount of pep for highway entry. Braking is predictable and progressive. There are paddles for regenerative braking adjustment and auto hold can be turned on/off. All Ioniq 9 models are estimated to get around 300 miles of range. AWD models can disconnect the front motor to improve efficiency. It has 800V architecture, the Ioniq 9 can charge from 10% to 80% in about 24 minutes on a 350 kW DC fast charger. Preconditioning the battery can be found in the infotainment menu.

It has a V2L capability. U.S. models will feature NACS charge ports, allowing access to over 17,000 Tesla charging stations. The suspension provides a low center of gravity and has a stiff chassis offering a nice, smooth ride. Visibility is good out the windshield.

The interior features synthetic leather with a two-tone color scheme and a lack of gloss black. The Calligraphy trim includes massage functions in front seats. Also, there is no sunglass compartment, though it offers UV-C sanitizers, six USB-C ports, good-sized door bins, and practical storage space. With its third row and driver-assistance systems, it comes at an unknown cost, but likely to start around $60,000. It also has rear screens. Expect it in the first half of 2025.
