The Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake will come all-electric and with a mild hybrid petrol engine. The electric version has an illuminated grille, in the petrol version, the grille will have stars as a pattern. Matrix LED headlights are an option.The daytime running light design had to be adjusted because the original appeared too much like the company logo, violating daytime running light regulations. The reviewed car has a Hi-tech Silver color with a coupe-style estate shape with an overall length of 4.72m (186"). 17-19 inch wheels are available.
The suspension is a base steel suspension, there is no adaptive suspension. The CD value will be slightly worse than the sedan, resulting in a small range loss.
The CLA 250+ has 272 hp, while the CLA 350 4Matic has 354 hp. The Shooting Brake accelerates .1 second slower than the sedan.
The car drives electric from the 48-volt board battery in reverse gear except on long steep reverse trips, then the combustion engine will turn on as well. Electric tailgate is standard.
Compared to the sedan, the Shooting Brake will come with 50 liters more trunk capacity, 455 liters to 1,290 liters when the back seats are down.
The car has a 100 liter front trunk. Standard AC charging is 11kW, with an option to increase to 22kW. High-speed charging from 10% to 80% takes only 22 minutes. The front door handles are electronic, to manually access for emergencies you have to use your credit card or a screwdriver.

LFP batteries (58kWh) will be coming as a later option, whereas the 85kWh NMC battery will be available at the start. High grade leather is used for the interior. The reviewers suggest to check which engine and battery size work best to balance comfort and cost. In hot climates, it's nice to have a sunblock or roof option, but it might block too much sun and light. The door has very solid closings, but has frameless windows. Finally, the steering is high and good quality.
