Here is a summary of the review of the Mustang Mach-E:
After owning the standard-range, all-wheel-drive Premium trim for over two years and 19,000 miles, the car has been great. For daily driving, the standard range battery is plenty of range. It offers 224 miles of EPA range. Road trips benefit from more range, but all-wheel drive is good for performance and winter driving. The tires are not great in winter.
The premium trim provides creature comforts, a nicer appearance, glossy fenders, a glass roof, and BlueCruise. Standard Range models purchased after mid-2023 use an LFP battery. The LFP charges faster, and can charge to 100% without battery degradation.
The newer models will be switching to a Tesla NACS adapter, making that compatible with Tesla superchargers. Older CCS cars will work with some, but not all Tesla V3 superchargers and V4 locations. Ford offers free adapters for Mach-E owners, with the ability to order ending in September 2024.
Ford has made updates such as lane change capability with BlueCruise 1.3. BlueCruise will also adjust within the lane away from larger vehicles. There was also an audio update that improved the bass sound for the driver.
The access to the Mach-E can still be problematic. The door locking and unlocking have been better with the software updates, the car often locks automatically even when close with a keyfob. A long-term test car is not ideal, and would prefer a physical handle.
There is a one-mile-per-hour software bug. It is difficult to see the car's speed.
Software updates do not improve the gauge screen, which is basic. Also, there are no camping or pet modes for climate. There's no physical button to open the rear hatch; you must use the touchscreen or the FordPass app.
The handling is typically smooth. However, with some road bumps and uneven terrain, the car can feel bouncy at lower speeds. Wider tires would increase the handling.
The regenerative braking does not transition smoothly to the friction brakes. The friction brakes also groan when they are engaged.
The low maintenance of EVs is good, no oil changes or break downs. However, communication between the service advisors and service personnel is inconsistent.
