Video Summary
The Audi Q4 e-tron is the first electric Audi on the MEB platform. The platform is also used by the Volkswagen ID.4 and Skoda Enyaq IV. Three powertrain options include the basic 35 e-tron, the mid-range 40 e-tron, and the 50 e-tron Quattro. A Sportback coupe version is available for all three powertrains.
The entry-level 35 e-tron gets a 52-kilowatt-hour battery with 208 miles of range and a 0 to 62 mph time of nine seconds. The 40 e-tron has a 77-kilowatt-hour battery with a range of 316 miles. The 50 e-tron adds a motor to the rear axle for four-wheel drive. It improves performance and reduces range to 298 miles.
Compared to the ID.4 and the Enyaq IV, the Q4 e-tron is positioned as the premium choice, especially evident in its interior. The interior is well-designed and finished with soft-touch materials. The touchscreen is angled toward the driver, and physical buttons are included for the air-con controls.
All Q4 e-trons come with a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit display and a 10.1-inch infotainment screen. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard. The trims include Sport, S Line, Edition 1, and Vorsprung. The entry version is priced at under £41,000. The basic version includes LED lights, 19-inch alloy wheels, a powered tailgate, cruise control, heated front seats, and three-zone air conditioning.
The reviewer recommends the 40 e-tron as the sweet spot, including all essential kits without the highest price. The Sportback version costs about £1,500 more. Efficiency comes in at 3.4 miles per kilowatt hour. The ride is more supple than a Tesla Model 3. The small, light steering wheel encourages sporty driving. The large 520-liter boot has space underneath for charging cables.
All things considered, the Q4 e-tron is hard to fault; it’s quick when it needs to be, comfortable when it doesn’t, the technology is excellent, it’s spacious and practical, and the range is decent. Other EVs might offer more value for money, but for overall ability, the Q4 e-tron is great.
