The Cupra is a standalone brand that started as an offshoot of Seat and may outlast Seat.Expectations are high for the brand's second electric car, the Cupra Tavascan, a coupe SUV based on the 2019 concept car.
The production version is slightly less radical, with a short, hammerhead-style angular front end, a large grille, and triangle lights, joined by a raked roofline and boot-width rear lightbar on 21-inch alloys.

There will be two versions of the Tavascan available at launch, both fitted with a 77 kWh battery.
One motor will be driving the rear wheels with a 341-mile range from a full charge; it will be 15 miles more than the ID.5 and much further than the Volvo C40.
The more powerful Tavaskan VZ has two electric motors for all-wheel drive with 335bhp and 501-lb ft of torque; a 0-62 mph time of 5.6 seconds and a range of 321 miles.
A starting price of around 55,000 is expected, sitting at the top of the Cupra range and commanding a hefty premium over its ID.5 and C40 rivals, as well as costing 10,000 more than the Model Y.
The Cupra Born is great because it is based on the excellent ID.3, as the bigger, costlier ID.5 is mediocre.
