Peugeot 5008 2025 review | Insanity not to go electric!

Video Summary

The Peugeot 5008 is a seven-seater SUV, available as either a mild hybrid or fully electric. Peugeot Ireland prices are the same for both, leading the reviewer to question the continued popularity of petrol models. Most sales this year have been petrol. The 5008 has two trims, allure and GT, which have the same price for either fuel type. The GT's grill matches the car color.

Adaptive cruise control is standard on the vehicle. It looks much like the 3008, and the grey color is most popular in Ireland. GT versions have a badge on the side, while standard tires look odd. Black wheel arch housing completes the look. Wheelbase of 2.9 meters makes for lots of internal space. Electrics tow 1000 kilos, the plug-in hybrid (not in Ireland) will tow 1300 kilos. There is generous boot space, even with the third row of seats up, where you can "fit a child." Two rows of seats fold flat for van-like space over 2000 liters. There is good space in the back. There used to be three individual isofix seats.

The small steering wheel remains, and taller drivers are better off. The steering wheel is way down for a full view of the instruments. The material is delicate and will show marks. It is very nice, premium enough. The climate control disappears into Carplay. The driver must use widgets. A wireless charging plate is on the GT version. It’s worth it for the electric over petrol.

On the motorway, the electric has 4.8 mi/kWh at 300 to 350 miles; it's sluggish, 10-plus seconds to 60 mph. Still, 210hp is better than 136hp. It's one of the best value seven-seaters, and the reviewer is impressed with the lack of wind noise in the cabin, a quieter ride overall, but soft and comfortable (comfort is important for seven passengers).
