Smart #3 Brabus autoparking test

Uploaded 1 year ago by Bjørn Nyland

Video Summary

The parking system can find spots relatively quickly and doesn’t require very slow speeds. The overlay of possible spots on the rear camera view resembles Toyota’s system. The car only parks by backing in; it doesn’t offer a nose-in option. It's required to drive forward past a parking space for the car to locate it. The system receives minus points for not blinking to signal its actions. The tested system is more flexible, but the performance is quite buggy, where certain spots get lost, or can be lost between test runs. There was also a near collision with a person, which also got it more minus points. The parallel parking worked better, by comparison. Finally, that self-parking system isn't as good as a Tesla’s system.
