The Lexus RZ 300e is the first electric vehicle for the US market. The company plans to be fully battery electric by 2030. The RZ 300e takes the motor from the front-wheel-drive variant of the BZ4X, providing approximately 201 horsepower. This increases the range, as no rear motor is present.A new base trim is introduced for the RZ 300e for the 2025 model year, which brings the price down to around $43,000. Leasing the vehicle qualifies for the EV tax credit, but purchasing does not. It takes the motor from the BZ4X, giving us about 201 horsepower.
Front-wheel drive will be more affordable than perhaps even a front-wheel-drive base BZ4X. Both are built in the Motomachi plant in Japan.
The under-floor area offers extra storage space, unlike the all-wheel-drive model. The new model will include Thundercloud suede seats.
The luxury trim tested features a Dynamic Sky panoramic glass roof. No normal sunroof or no roof at all is on the base rz 300e.
Memory seats are on the luxury, as is a head-up display.
The steering wheel has a leather-like smooth feel. The driver instrument screen is outdated, not upgraded for the '25 model year. The center display is 14". The base 300e also gets heated seats and wheel!
The car features a digital latch, which also appears on the new NX and RX. Autoparking assist and 360 camera. The base model has 266 miles of range!
The RZ offers an excellent ride in the city. Performance is better, but with limited range. You receive an ICE loaner from Lexus, should travel outside the range be required. There is no glove box on the dash. But they will give you a loaner car that has it in case you need to leave.
