The most luxurious Mercedes: EQS SUV review!

Uploaded 3 years ago by carwow

Video Summary

The EQS SUV’s suspension is very smooth due to the standard air suspension. The ride is less smooth than the EQS saloon model, though, likely due to the higher center of gravity as a taller SUV. A starting price of £130,000 in the United Kingdom makes this vehicle expensive.

The SUV's front design, with a blanked-off grille featuring many small Mercedes star symbols and a light bar, is well-liked. The back design is less appealing. The full-length light bar is liked, but the fake exhaust bits are not. The side profile makes the car look less substantial than the GLS.

The EQS SUV’s interior feels more expensive than the GLS.

For rear passengers, the car is quiet and comfortable with plenty of knee and headroom. The back seats can be adjusted electrically to recline. This model has a rear entertainment package, with the ability to load destinations into the navigation system; rear passengers can control a blind for the sunroof. While the passenger can do all of that, they don't get the two-seat seat-in package that is found in the Sedan model of the car. There is 190L of space behind the 3rd-row seats, and there is 800L of overall boot capacity (2100L with all seats down).

The paddle shifters manage recuperation, the car can automatically apply regenerative braking, and you can set a beginner mode that allows limiting speed, acceleration, and drive modes.

Mercedes claims the car can accelerate from 0–60 in 6.2 seconds, but during testing, the car achieved 0-60 in 6.51 seconds.

The car is capable off-road, thanks to all-terrain tires and rear-axle steering, which helps its turning circle. There is a transparent hood to help off-road driving.

With a 108kWh battery, a 7kWh wall charger at home would take 15 hours to charge the car. On a DC charger at 200 kWh, it can go from 10% to 80% full in about 30 minutes.

There are issues with the touch controls feeling a bit cheap, there are no rear window blinds, and there is a creaking sound. That is to say it's very relaxing.

Overall, if you want the most luxurious feeling electric SUV, this EQS SUV is it. This vehicle earns a "shortlist" rating.
