The MG ZS EV is an electric car for the masses. The ZS was originally released in 2017 as a compact SUV and struggled against competition like the Peugeot 2008. The interior was not up to scratch.The electric version is a completely different ball game. When it comes to affordable electric SUVs, there isn’t much competition at all. It costs under £30,000. The range is around 200 miles on a single charge. The long-range version does 273 miles on a charge. There are few cars offering better range for the money. Charging up to 80% takes 42 minutes.
The interior isn't super luxurious, but it is adequate. The design is generic, and there is some hard plastic. The seats are comfortable. The steering wheel is nice to hold and adjustable. The screen is 10.1 inches and a tad slow, but there is Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satnav, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, and adaptive cruise control.
The indicator sound is harsh. The wing mirror adjustment is here and not in a standard location where the driver can adjust and check while in driving position.
There is lots of headroom in the back. The boot is 470 liters. The ZS EV is covered by a seven-year warranty.
The EV is fine, not exciting, but gets the job done. It is designed to be functional, and it’s one of the easiest cars to drive. The regenerative braking is adjustable and at the strongest level is almost one-pedal driving. It will do 0 to 62 in around eight seconds. The steering is light and responsive. The suspension is very comfortable.
