Overview
The Genesis Electrified GV70 AWD is a stealthy powerhouse, wrapping blistering performance and cutting-edge tech in a seriously luxurious compact SUV package. It ditches the gas engine but keeps the stunning looks and premium feel of its sibling, making it a compelling alternative to rivals like the Tesla Model Y. Key highlights are its 800-volt architecture for rapid charging and a standard dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that delivers thrilling acceleration. With estimated used values in the US market around $26,372, it represents a significant bargain in the premium EV space for its final model year.
What's New for 2025?
For its 2025 farewell tour, the Electrified GV70 receives a major tech overhaul, borrowing the show-stopping interior from the refreshed GV80. The biggest news is the stunning 27-inch pillar-to-pillar OLED screen that combines the driver’s display and infotainment into one seamless unit. The cabin also gets a new, more ergonomic steering wheel design. On the outside, expect subtle but effective updates, including a refined G-Matrix grille pattern and fresh alloy wheel designs, keeping this stylish SUV looking sharp and modern as it concludes its production run.
Design & Exterior
The Electrified GV70 is a masterclass in understated elegance, looking nearly identical to the handsome gas-powered model. Genesis's signature "Athletic Elegance" design shines with its distinctive two-line LED headlights and taillights that give it an unmistakable road presence. The EV-specific, sealed G-Matrix grille is a work of art, cleverly hiding the CCS Type 1 charge port. It’s a perfectly proportioned SUV, measuring 185.6 inches long, 75.2 inches wide, and 64.2 inches tall, striking a perfect balance between a commanding stance and city-friendly maneuverability.
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Step inside, and the GV70’s cabin feels properly plush, with high-quality materials and an impeccably screwed-together feel. The star of the 2025 model is the massive new 27-inch OLED display, which elevates the tech ambiance to another level. Passenger space is comfortable for five adults. For your gear, you get 17.8 cubic feet of trunk space, which expands to a versatile 59.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. A small 0.9 cubic-foot frunk under the hood is perfect for stashing charging cables or small bags.
Performance & Driving Experience
This isn't just a pretty face; it can really hustle. The standard dual-motor AWD setup, featuring a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor at each axle, churns out a combined 360 kW (around 483 hp) and a hefty 516 lb-ft of torque. Nail the accelerator, and it rockets from 0 to 60 mph in a blistering 4.0 seconds. For an extra kick, a 'Boost Mode' button on the steering wheel unleashes maximum power for 10-second bursts. The ride is serene and comfortable, but the instant torque provides effortless, neck-snapping acceleration on demand.
Range, Battery & Charging
Under the floor sits a 74 kWh usable battery pack. Based on their proprietary formula, Green Cars Compare calculates a real-world range of 232 miles, with an impressive efficiency of 3.14 mi/kWh. The GV70's 800V architecture is its party trick, allowing it to accept a maximum DC fast-charging power of up to 350 kW. This means you can juice up from 10% to 80% in as little as 18 minutes. For home charging, the standard 10.9 kW on-board charger is robust. It also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) to power your gadgets on the go.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
Genesis loads the GV70 with a comprehensive suite of safety tech as standard. While official 2025 ratings are pending, the platform is based on the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ gasoline model. The standout feature is Highway Driving Assist 2, a sophisticated system combining adaptive cruise control with lane-centering for stress-free highway journeys. You also get forward collision-avoidance assist, blind-spot monitoring with a live camera feed in the dash, rear cross-traffic alert, and a surround-view monitor, making it one of the most well-equipped vehicles in its class for safety.
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
Genesis’s warranty is the ace up its sleeve and a major reason to buy. It comes with a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and an outstanding 10-year/100,000-mile warranty for the powertrain and EV battery. On top of that, Genesis includes 3 years/36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance, complete with their signature valet service that will pick up your car for service and leave you a loaner. This class-leading coverage provides incredible peace of mind and a truly premium ownership experience that rivals and often surpasses its German competitors.
