Overview
Get ready for a new challenger in the compact electric SUV space! The 2025 VinFast VF 6 Eco arrives from Vietnam with sharp Italian styling and an eye on value. Positioned as the brand's most accessible model, the Eco trim is all about maximizing efficiency for daily driving. With an estimated starting price around $30,000, it aims to pack a surprising amount of standard tech and a standout warranty to entice buyers. It's a fresh-faced contender that's looking to shake up the established order with its blend of style and substance.
What's New for 2025?
For 2025, the VinFast VF 6 is an all-new model hitting the US market for the first time. There are no carry-over blues here; everything is fresh out of the box. It slots into the VinFast lineup beneath the larger VF 8, establishing the brand's presence in the hugely popular compact crossover segment. As a brand-new nameplate, its debut focuses on introducing American drivers to VinFast's minimalist design philosophy, advanced in-car technology, and a compelling ownership package right from the get-go. It's a clean-sheet design ready to make its first impression.
Design & Exterior
The VF 6 boasts some serious curb appeal, thanks to styling penned by the legendary Italian firm Torino Design. It’s a sharp-looking little SUV, featuring a distinctive V-shaped LED light signature, a sleek profile, and a 'floating roof' effect. The Eco trim keeps things clean and aerodynamic to maximize range. It's neatly proportioned, measuring 166.9 inches long, 71.7 inches wide, and 62.8 inches tall, making it a perfect size for zipping through city streets and squeezing into tight parking spots. It's a sophisticated look that punches well above its price tag.
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Inside, the VF 6 Eco embraces a minimalist, tech-forward vibe. The dashboard is dominated by a large 12.9-inch central touchscreen that handles nearly all infotainment and vehicle controls, with standard support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The cabin feels modern and uncluttered, with seating for five passengers. Practicality is decent for its class, offering 12.4 cubic feet of trunk space. Fold the rear seats down, and that expands to a useful 45 cubic feet for bigger hauls. However, it's worth noting there is no frunk for extra storage up front.
Performance & Driving Experience
The VF 6 Eco is set up for smooth and efficient commuting. It features a single Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor powering the front wheels, delivering a sensible 174 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. It’s not a rocket ship, getting from 0-60 mph in a relaxed 8.2 seconds, but the instant torque makes it feel zippy around town. The driving experience prioritizes comfort and quietness over sporty thrills, providing a serene ride that’s perfect for the daily grind. Expect light steering and predictable handling that make it an easy and relaxing car to live with.
Range, Battery & Charging
The VF 6 Eco is equipped with a 59.6 kWh usable battery pack. According to Green Cars Compare's proprietary calculation, this delivers a real-world range estimate of 211 miles on a full charge, with an excellent efficiency of 3.54 mi/kWh. For charging, its standard 11 kW on-board AC charger can top up the battery overnight in under 6 hours. When you're on the road, it supports DC fast charging at up to 100 kW via its CCS Type 1 port, which can take the battery from 10-80% in about 35 minutes.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
While official NHTSA and IIHS safety ratings are not yet available for this new model, VinFast is expected to equip the VF 6 Eco with a solid suite of standard driver-assistance features. Based on the brand’s strategy, this will likely include essentials like Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, and Blind Spot Monitoring right out of the gate. More advanced features, such as adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist, are anticipated to be available, possibly as part of an optional package, to bolster its safety credentials in a competitive market.
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
VinFast is making a bold statement with its ownership package, aiming to put any concerns about a new brand to rest. The VF 6 comes with a fantastic 10-year/125,000-mile basic vehicle warranty, which is one of the best in the business. Even better, the high-voltage battery is covered for an incredible 10 years with unlimited mileage, offering long-term peace of mind. This comprehensive coverage is paired with a 10-year/125,000-mile roadside assistance program, showcasing VinFast's confidence in its product and commitment to its customers.
