Overview
The Chevrolet Blazer EV AWD lands as a seriously stylish and practical contender in the electric SUV space, taking aim at rivals like the Tesla Model Y and Ford Mustang Mach-E. Built on GM’s cutting-edge Ultium platform, this dual-motor version serves up a compelling blend of all-weather traction, solid performance, and impressive interior tech. It’s a sharp-looking family hauler with a sporty edge, clearly borrowing some design swagger from its Camaro cousin. While official European pricing is yet to be confirmed, its positioning suggests a competitive price point for a feature-packed electric SUV.
What's New for 2025?
As the Blazer EV is still fresh on the scene, the 2025 model year focuses on refining the experience and expanding the lineup. Key updates include important software enhancements to improve the infotainment system’s stability and user interface, addressing early launch gremlins. The biggest news is the full rollout of the entire Blazer EV family, slotting this capable AWD version between the entry-level FWD model and the fire-breathing SS performance variant. This gives buyers a clearer choice, with the AWD hitting the sweet spot of performance, range, and year-round usability.
Design & Exterior
The Blazer EV AWD is a proper head-turner, boasting an aggressive and athletic stance. Its front-end is dominated by a dramatic full-width LED light bar that performs a neat animated sequence, giving it massive road presence. The muscular body lines and sculpted sides are pure Camaro-inspired cool. This AWD trim features smart-looking alloy wheels that fill the arches nicely, completing the sporty look. Dimensionally, it’s a substantial machine, measuring 4883 mm in length, 1982 mm in width, and 1651 mm in height, making it a well-proportioned and imposing electric SUV.
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Inside, the Blazer EV’s cabin feels futuristic and driver-focused, highlighted by slick turbine-style air vents. The main event is the massive 17.7-inch central touchscreen paired with an 11-inch digital driver’s display, both running on Google Built-in software. Be warned, though—there’s no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Passenger space is generous thanks to the long wheelbase and flat floor, offering great comfort. For your gear, you get a huge 722-litre boot, expanding to a van-like 1674 litres with the rear seats folded. There is, however, no frunk for extra storage.
Performance & Driving Experience
With its dual-motor setup—a Permanent Magnet motor at the front and an Induction motor at the rear—the Blazer EV AWD has plenty of poke. It packs a combined 224 kW and 481 Nm of torque, getting you from 0-100 km/h in a brisk 6.3 seconds. The all-wheel drive system provides fantastic grip and confidence in all conditions. The ride is tuned for comfort, soaking up bumps with ease, yet it remains composed and satisfying to pilot through corners. One-pedal driving is available, allowing for smooth deceleration and maximum energy regeneration back into the battery.
Range, Battery & Charging
The AWD model is equipped with a substantial 85 kWh usable battery pack, delivering a Green Cars Compare calculated real-world range of around 432 km on a full charge. Its efficiency is rated at a decent 5.08 km/kWh. For charging, it uses a standard European CCS Type 2 port. At home on an AC charger, it can pull up to 11.5 kW, meaning a full top-up takes around 8 hours. When you’re on the move, it supports DC fast charging at up to 150 kW, which can zap the battery from 10-80% in about 35 minutes.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
While the Blazer EV has not yet been rated by Euro NCAP, it comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety features as standard. The Chevy Safety Assist package includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, and IntelliBeam automatic high beams. More advanced systems, such as Adaptive Cruise Control and a 360-degree camera system, are typically available as part of optional packages, allowing you to add an extra layer of protection and convenience for motorway driving and tight parking manoeuvres.
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
Though not officially sold in Europe, Chevrolet’s warranty coverage in other markets provides a strong indication of what to expect. This typically includes a basic vehicle warranty for 3 years or 100,000 km. Critically for an EV, the battery and drive components are covered by a separate, more extensive warranty, usually for 8 years or 160,000 km, which guarantees the battery will retain at least 70% of its original capacity. As with all electric cars, maintenance is minimal, with no oil changes needed, translating to lower running costs over the vehicle's lifetime.
