Overview
The 2025 Citroën e-C3 is here to democratise electric mobility, and the Comfort Range trim is the sweet spot. Aimed squarely at budget-conscious buyers, it wraps Citroën’s legendary comfort in a funky, high-riding SUV package. For a starting price around €26,490, you get a practical, stylish, and surprisingly well-equipped daily driver. It's a genuine game-changer, proving that going electric doesn't have to break the bank. This Slovakian-built EV is set to give rivals a serious run for their money in the European market, focusing on what truly matters: accessibility and comfort.
What's New for 2025?
The 2025 e-C3 is a complete revolution, not an evolution. It's the first to ride on Stellantis's cost-effective 'Smart Car' platform, designed specifically for affordable EVs. This new generation ditches petrol power for a fully electric drivetrain, centered around a durable LFP battery pack. The biggest news is the introduction of Citroën's Advanced Comfort suspension with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions as standard, even on this trim, bringing a 'magic carpet' ride to the small EV segment. It's a radical reinvention, aimed at making electric driving both affordable and exceptionally comfortable.
Design & Exterior
The e-C3 ditches its supermini roots for a proper baby-SUV stance that’s full of attitude. It’s taller, boxier, and more assertive, sporting Citroën's new, bold design language and updated chevron logo. The distinctive three-segment LED light signatures at the front and rear give it a modern, techy look. Measuring 4395 mm long, 1795 mm wide, and 1660 mm tall, its raised ride height and chunky plastic cladding give it a rugged vibe. It’s a design that’s both functional and fantastically French, standing out in a crowded car park.
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Citroën's 'C-Zen Lounge' interior is minimalist and clever. Instead of a traditional gauge cluster, you get a slick head-up display strip reflected on a gloss panel, keeping your eyes on the road. The Comfort trim boasts a 10.25-inch central touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Paired with Citroën's famously plush Advanced Comfort seats, the cabin is a superb place to be for five occupants. Cargo space is impressive for its class, offering a generous 460 litres in the boot, expanding to a massive 1600 litres with the seats down.
Performance & Driving Experience
The e-C3 Comfort Range is all about serene progress, not blistering pace. Its front-wheel-drive setup is powered by a single 83 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor delivering 125 Nm of torque. This gets you from 0-100 km/h in a relaxed 12.9 seconds, which is perfectly adequate for city driving and motorway cruising. The real star is the ride quality; the standard-fit Advanced Comfort suspension soaks up bumps and potholes like a far more expensive car. It’s a quiet, smooth, and stress-free driving experience, prioritizing comfort above all else.
Range, Battery & Charging
Under the floor sits a 44 kWh (usable) LFP battery pack. According to Green Cars Compare's real-world estimates, this is good for around 260 km of driving, with an excellent efficiency of 5.91 km/kWh. When it’s time to plug in, the e-C3 is properly quick for a budget EV. It can slurp up DC power at a peak of 100 kW via its CCS Type 2 port, getting you from 20-80% in under 30 minutes. For home charging, a 7.4 kW on-board charger is standard, with a faster 11 kW unit available optionally.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
While an official Euro NCAP rating is still pending, the e-C3 comes equipped with a solid suite of modern safety kit as standard. Every model gets essentials like Active Safety Brake (an emergency braking system), Active Lane Departure Warning, Speed Limit Information, and a rear parking camera. You also get cruise control with a speed limiter to make long journeys easier. While you’ll need to step up to a higher trim for more advanced features, the core safety package is comprehensive for a car at this price point.
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
Citroën provides solid peace of mind for e-C3 owners. The vehicle itself is covered by a standard 2-year, unlimited kilometre warranty across Europe. Crucially, the high-voltage battery pack gets a much more extensive warranty, typically covering it for 8 years or 160,000 km, guaranteeing it will retain at least 70% of its original capacity. With fewer moving parts compared to a petrol car, maintenance schedules are simpler and running costs should be significantly lower over the lifetime of the vehicle, adding to its brilliant value proposition.
