It aims to blend iconic design cues with modern EV performance and practicality. With a sharp starting price of around €55,950, it's poised to make waves. It's built in Germany and is hitting showrooms now, marking a fresh chapter for Ford in Europe's electric adventure.
What's New for 2025?
For 2025, the Ford Capri EV is effectively brand spanking new, marking its grand debut! This isn't just a refresh; it's a complete reimagining of the Capri for the electric age. Built on a new platform for Ford, everything is fresh: the striking exterior, the tech-laden interior, and of course, the electric powertrain. The Extended Range AWD trim, in particular, arrives as a compelling option from launch, showcasing the model's performance and range capabilities right out of the gate. Get ready for a totally new Ford experience.
Design & Exterior
Phwoar, the Capri EV certainly turns heads! It’s a sleek SUV coupe, giving off serious sporty vibes with that sloping roofline and modern Ford family face. The Extended Range AWD trim boasts smart alloy wheels and distinctive LED lighting signatures that make it pop, day or night. Dimensionally, it measures 4634 mm in length, stands 1626 mm tall, and has a width of 1872 mm (excluding mirrors), giving it a confident stance on the road. It’s a fresh take on a classic name, and we think it looks ace!
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Inside, the Capri EV Extended Range AWD offers a modern and spacious cabin for five. Ford’s latest SYNC infotainment system takes centre stage, likely featuring a large touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Expect a good mix of materials, aiming for a contemporary feel. Luggage space is generous, with a 572-litre boot expanding to a hefty 1510 litres when you drop the rear seats – plenty for weekend adventures or flat-pack furniture runs! Sadly, there’s no frunk, but the main boot is properly useful.
Performance & Driving Experience
This Extended Range AWD Capri EV is no slouch! With two motors – an induction motor at the front and a permanent magnet one at the rear – it churns out a stonking 250 kW and 679 Nm of torque. That means a rapid 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.3 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h! The all-wheel-drive system ensures brilliant traction, while drivers can expect a comfortable yet engaging ride. Multiple regenerative braking modes will help you claw back precious range. It’s got the go to match the show!
Range, Battery & Charging
The Capri EV Extended Range AWD packs a 79 kWh usable battery, delivering a very respectable Green Cars Compare estimated real-world range of 492 km – enough for proper road trips! Efficiency is rated at a decent 6.23 km/kWh. Home charging is handled by an 11 kW AC on-board charger. When you’re out and about, it can guzzle electrons at up to 185 kW from a DC fast charger via its CCS Type 2 port, meaning speedy top-ups. We'll check if Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability is on the cards for extra versatility.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
Safety is sorted, as the Ford Capri EV platform proudly wears a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. You can expect Ford's Co-Pilot360 suite of driver-assistance tech. This will likely include standard features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring on this higher-spec Extended Range AWD trim. Parking sensors and a rearview camera should also make maneuvering a doddle, with more advanced parking aids possibly on the options list. Peace of mind comes as standard!
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
Ford typically offers a comprehensive warranty package in Europe. Expect a basic vehicle warranty of at least 2 years with unlimited kilometres, and a dedicated battery warranty covering 8 years or 160,000 km, guaranteeing at least 70% state-of-health. The electric powertrain components often share this extended coverage. While complimentary maintenance plans vary by market, the Capri EV, being all-new, benefits from the latest EV tech, aiming for good reliability. Regular servicing will mostly involve checks rather than extensive mechanical work, keeping running costs down.
