Overview
The Peugeot e-208 with the 51 kWh battery is a super-stylish electric supermini that packs a serious visual punch in a compact package. It’s the French brand’s answer to rivals like the Renault Zoe and Vauxhall Corsa Electric, but it arguably wins on catwalk appeal. This updated version brings a more efficient motor and a bigger battery, boosting its credentials as a fantastic all-rounder. While no longer in production, it's a hot commodity on the pre-owned market, with prices around €30,488, offering chic design and zero-emission motoring for the city and beyond.
What's New for 2025?
As a model discontinued in 2025, this version represents the culmination of the first-generation e-208's evolution. The most significant update over earlier models is the powertrain at its heart. It swaps the old 100 kW motor and 50 kWh battery for a punchier, more efficient 115 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor and an upgraded 51 kWh pack. This change not only improved performance but also crucially extended its real-world driving range. This final iteration also sports the brand's updated shield logo and revised front-end styling, keeping it looking fresh and modern.
Design & Exterior
This car is a proper head-turner. The e-208 boasts an aggressive, sporty stance that makes it stand out in the crowded hatchback segment. Key features include the striking 'sabre-tooth' vertical LED daytime running lights that frame the front bumper and the signature 'three-claw' LED tail lights. Measuring 4055 mm in length, 1765 mm in width, and 1430 mm in height, its compact dimensions make it a dream for navigating tight city streets and parking spots. Gloss black wheel arches and distinctive alloy wheels complete the sharp, sophisticated look.
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Step inside and you're greeted by Peugeot's futuristic i-Cockpit. The design is dominated by a tiny steering wheel you look over—not through—to see a high-set digital driver's display, which has a cool 3D effect on some trims. The material quality feels premium for this class, with plush plastics and slick 'piano key' switches for main controls. While front passenger space is great, the rear is a bit snug for tall adults. You get a decent 309-litre boot, which expands to a useful 1118 litres with the seats down. Unfortunately, there's no frunk.
Performance & Driving Experience
Don't let its size fool you; this little Peugeot is seriously nippy. The 115 kW motor delivers 260 Nm of instant torque to the front wheels, getting you from 0-100 km/h in a brisk 8.2 seconds. It feels zippy and responsive, perfect for darting through urban traffic. The ride is generally comfortable, soaking up bumps well, while the small steering wheel gives it a fun, go-kart-like feel in the corners. A 'B' mode enhances regenerative braking, allowing for more one-pedal driving and recouping energy back into the battery.
Range, Battery & Charging
This model features a 48.1 kWh usable battery pack, giving it a Green Cars Compare calculated 'real-world' range estimate of 353 km. It’s impressively efficient, achieving around 7.34 km/kWh. For charging, it has a CCS Type 2 port. At home on AC power, it charges at 7.4 kW standard, with an 11 kW on-board charger available as an option for a full charge in around five hours. When you need a quick top-up, it can handle DC fast charging at up to 100 kW, zapping the battery from 20-80% in about 30 minutes.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
The Peugeot 208 platform on which this car is based earned a 4-star rating from Euro NCAP in 2019. It comes equipped with a solid baseline of safety kit, including lane keeping assist, speed limit recognition, and automatic emergency braking. For a more relaxed drive, you can often find models equipped with the optional Drive Assist pack, which adds adaptive cruise control with a Stop & Go function for traffic jams and advanced lane positioning assist. Blind-spot monitoring is another valuable option to look out for on the used market.
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
In Europe, Peugeot typically provides a standard 2-year, unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty, though some regions offer extensions. The crucial high-voltage battery is covered by a much more extensive warranty, lasting for 8 years or 160,000 kilometres, whichever comes first. This includes a guarantee that the battery will retain at least 70% of its original usable capacity during that period. With fewer moving parts than a petrol car, maintenance is simpler and generally cheaper, with longer service intervals focused on checks for brakes, tyres, and cabin filters.
