Overview
The 2021 Skoda Citigo-e iV was Skoda's brilliant first dip into the all-electric pool, a compact city slicker perfect for zipping around town. As the 'iV' trim, it packed a surprising punch of practicality and cheeky charm. Though discontinued in 2021, it remains a sought-after choice on the used market, with prices around €10,990 in the EU. It’s an ideal, no-fuss entry into electric motoring, especially for urbanites wanting an agile and affordable EV experience without breaking the bank. It's small, but mighty in its own way!
What's New for 2021?
For 2021, the Citigo-e iV carried over its successful formula as it reached its final production year. There weren't major overhauls; it was more about appreciating this cracking little EV package before it bowed out. The iV trim continued to be the sole, well-equipped electric version, offering an accessible and fun electric drive for European city dwellers. Think of the 2021 model as the last chance to grab this simple, effective, and surprisingly spacious urban EV, before it transitioned to being a compelling used buy after production ceased in 2021.
Design & Exterior
The Citigo-e iV rocks a classic city car look – compact, friendly, and super easy to park! Its dimensions are perfectly urban: 3597 mm long, 1645 mm wide (excluding mirrors), and 1481 mm tall, all built in Slovakia. The 'iV' trim gets a distinctive body-coloured, blanked-off grille signifying its electric heart, along with unique badging. Standard features often included stylish alloy wheels and LED daytime running lights, giving it a modern touch. It’s a neat, unassuming design that’s all about practicality for navigating tight city streets with a bit of Skoda's clever design flair.
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Inside, the Citigo-e iV is surprisingly spacious for a four-seater city car, with a simple, durable, and smartly laid-out cabin. Material quality is honest and built to last. For storage, you get a decent 250 litres of boot space, expanding to a very useful 923 litres with the rear seats folded down – pretty good for a titchy car! There's no frunk, however. Tech-wise, the iV usually featured a smartphone docking station and Skoda’s ‘Move&Fun’ app for navigation and media, or a basic infotainment screen. Simple, but effective!
Performance & Driving Experience
This little electric Skoda is a proper hoot to drive in the city! With its front-wheel drive setup, single Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) pushing out 61 kW and a handy 212 Nm of instant torque, it's surprisingly nippy. The 0-100 km/h dash takes 12.3 seconds, topping out at 130 km/h, but it feels quicker off the line. It’s agile, easy to manoeuvre with its 1235 kg curb weight, and parking is a doddle. Ride comfort is good for a small car, and it features selectable regenerative braking modes.
Range, Battery & Charging
The Citigo-e iV is powered by a 32.3 kWh usable battery pack (36.8 kWh nominal), delivering a Green Cars Compare calculated 'real-world' range estimate of 218 km – plenty for daily urban missions. Its efficiency is rated at a frugal 6.75 km/kWh. For charging, the standard 7.2 kW on-board AC charger will juice it up fully in around 5-5.5 hours. Need a quicker boost? It supports DC fast charging up to 40 kW via its CCS Type 2 port and 400V architecture, getting you to 80% in about an hour.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
For a small city car, the Skoda Citigo-e iV packed essential safety kit, earning a 3-star rating from Euro NCAP. Standard safety features typically included multiple airbags, ABS, and ESP. A key driver-assistance system often fitted as standard on the iV was Lane Assist, helping to keep you on the straight and narrow. While not bristling with the very latest high-end tech, it covered the crucial bases to keep you and your passengers protected on those urban adventures, which is what you'd expect from a sensible Skoda.
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
Skoda generally backs its electric warrior, the Citigo-e iV, with a solid warranty package typical for the EU market. You'd usually find an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty covering the battery pack against significant degradation. The rest of the vehicle typically came with a 2-year unlimited mileage warranty, extendable in some regions, or a 3-year/100,000 km policy. Being electric, maintenance is refreshingly minimal – no oil changes here! This contributes to its low running costs, making it an even more attractive proposition on the used market.
