Video Summary

The Jeep Compass EV is the third generation of the Compass and the first time it's been available as a pure EV. The compact electric segment it's entering makes up 25% of EU car sales.

Jeep is now owned by Stellantis, which uses shared components to reduce costs. Its design was done in Turin, which also designed the Avenger. The exterior design feels bland and looks like other SUVs. There are square wheel arches, wheels pushed to the corners, Willies Jeep logo, and the seven-slot grille design.

The storage is a big improvement with an increase from 14 liters to 34 liters. The interior includes a glove box, a shelf, two cupholders, and wireless phone charging. Some of the materials are not nice to touch.

The vehicle includes a ten-inch screen in front of the driver with a larger 14-inch screen as its infotainment system with physical buttons. A strange terrain selector for snow, ice, and mud is included.

From the rear, it is reminiscent of a Volkswagen T-Cross. According to the design team, the styling aimed to be sleek, unfussy, and timeless. There’s the signature lighting design and a light bar with a lighted Jeep logo.

The rear seating area feels roomy with a lot of legroom and headroom, but has a slightly strange, raised seating position. Some of the plastics feel cheap in the rear area. The seats have wipe-down fabric, which is great for dogs and kids.

Power comes in three options, with up to 375hp in the AWD version. It features a dedicated 49 kW peak motor for the top range.

Range is 404 WLTP miles for the FWD version and 368 WLTP miles for AWD versions. The DC charging is up to 160 kW, which takes from 10 to 80% in 30 minutes. The AC charging is up to 22 kW.

There’s no towing capacity data. While it is not meant for the Rubicon Trail, each Jeep has to be the best off-road capable in its class. The car has all-wheel drive versions with select terrain control and hill descent control. Ground clearance is at 470 mm. These will be used best on snowy roads or in muddy fields.

The Vauxhall Grandland EV is £36,500, Peugeot e3008 is £46,000, the upcoming Kia EV5 is under £40,000, and the Skoda Enyaq starts just under £40,000. It's speculated that the Compass EV will come in at around £45,000. Overall, it is unknown if that price is good enough to stand out compared to competitors.
