Video Summary

The EQA looks very similar to the GLA, but has distinct features like a sealed-off grille with Mercedes' tri-pointed stars, and DRLs that extend from the headlights across the bonnet.

It has 19-inch aero wheels for range. The rear tail lights are connected by a large light bar, unique to the EV version.

Boot space is 340 liters, less than the petrol version's 425 liters. The rear seat also has a three-section fold-down, and there is no frunk.

Rear seat passengers sit in a knees-up position due to the battery, but there is ample legroom and the rear seat has a center armrest, unlike the ICE version.

The front is familiar to other Mercedes models. The IP panel is customizable. The dual-bar steering wheel looks sporty but uses touch surface controls, which are not as good as buttons. There is also a Burmester audio system, ambient lighting, HUD, and augmented reality navigation display. Full connectivity is included, with pre-cooling and pre-heating features. The car also has an ADAS suite, including autonomous parking.

The EQA has a modest 190 hp and 385 Nm of torque, but has a claimed range of 497 to 560 km (WLTP) from its 70.5 kWh battery.

Performance is good and you can quickly overtake. It moves off smartly from a stop with a 0-100 kph time of 8.6 seconds. Drive modes are all usable and it uses a comfortable suspension. Also, this car soaks up potholes well.

Grip is good, and the steering weight feels good. The seats are on the firm side, and there is noticeable pitch and squat with speed changes, and body roll is evident during spirited cornering.
