Owning the Kia EV9: Still the Best Electric SUV? | One-Year Road Test and Review

Uploaded 1 month ago by Edmunds Cars

Video Summary

The Kia EV9 is the reviewer's top-rated electric SUV for 2024/2025.
Its interior and overall build quality are on par with the car's price point. It even puts luxury SUVs from just a few years ago to shame.
The EV9's 360° camera system is great, big, and has high resolution; the camera button is dedicated. It also has standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Unlike many EVs, the car has plenty of physical controls.
Comfort and power also stand out. Its headrests are like cushy hammocks.
Its driver-assist tech makes life easier with adaptive cruise control and automatic lane changes. It can fit pretty tall people in the third row.
At 76,585, the GT line is pricey, yet still competitive.
The range of the EV9 is good with super-fast charging. DC fast charging can bring the car from 10% to 80% in less than 25 minutes.
Having fewer moving parts makes the EV9 very reliable and keeps maintenance costs low.
On the downside, the lane-centering can feel aggressive when handling curves and doesn't hold the road well. Some of the buttons on the dash look washed out in direct sunlight. The position of the start button is not ergonomic, and the climate controls can be tough to reach. A 32% value depreciation puts the value around $52,000 after 8500 miles.
However, the Tesla Supercharger Network is available to all Kia EVs, so that is a big deal.
