Video Summary

The Volkswagen ID.4 is VW's entry into the mainstream EV market.

The 2025 model has improvements that make it a solid pick for families or new EV buyers.

There are two battery options: a 62 kWh pack in the base standard trim and an 82 kWh pack in the Pro models.

The Pro rear-wheel-drive version has 282 horsepower, while the all-wheel-drive version adds a second motor for a total of 335 horsepower.

The base model hits 0 to 60 in about 7.3 seconds; the AWD Pro does it in 5.7 seconds.

The 62 kWh gets you 206 miles of range (EPA), and the 82 kWh RWD goes to 291 miles (EPA). The AWD lands at 263 miles.

Charging is at 175 kW DC, fast charging at 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes. Six to eight hours on a 240-volt Level 2 set up.

The design is modern but understated, aerodynamic shape with a 0.28 drag coefficient.

The S and S Plus trims offer a black package with dark accents, and the S Plus gets an auto-dimming driver-side mirror.

The cabin is spacious, about 30.3 cubic feet behind the rear seats or 64.2 with them folded, but no frunk.

The cabin has a minimalist design with a 12.9-inch touchscreen, heated seats, and an available panoramic glass roof.

Tech features a faster, less glitchy infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto coming mid-year.

It also features a ChatGPT-powered voice assistant, requiring no app.

Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and auto emergency braking.

It earned IIHS Top Safety Pick and five-star NHTSA rating.

Driving is smooth and quiet, classic EV experience. The base model is comfortable, while the AWD Pro S feels punchier.

Priced from $41,420 for the standard RWD, jumping to $46,520 for the Pro RWD, and maxing out at $58,720 for the Pro S Plus AWD (destination charges included).

Competes with Hyundai IONIQ 5, Kia EV6, etc., offering space and value.

It qualifies for the $7,500 federal EV tax credit, but only for purchases, not leases.
