Rivian R1T Quad Gen 2 - The Perfect Upgrade?

Uploaded 26 days ago by Auto Focus

Video Summary

The 2nd generation Rivian R1T offers a dramatically better ride than the first generation due to changes in the suspension. All purpose mode is softer, and sport mode is firmer. The Gen2 has new headlights and blinkers, along with a slightly updated front fascia that has a darker bottom. Quad motor Gen2 models come with teal accents and brake calipers. The new tonneau cover on the second generation is expected to break less often. The door opens and closes in the new Gen2 make a different sound. Gen2 models feature doors with push-button handles. The roof is electrochromic and can tint. New upholstery and updated seats are slightly more comfortable.

The first non-Tesla electric vehicle tested with an NACS port is the Rivian. The NACS port is shipping in all Gen2 Rivians and makes Tesla supercharging without adapters possible. All-terrain tires on Gen1 models yield a range of 285 miles on a full charge, although more range may be achieved with Gen2.

Overall the speaker system seems slightly worse in Gen2 than in Gen1 models.

The 1,000 hp version that does a 10.5 second quarter mile is the one with the teal quad logo. The zero-to-sixty performance on the quad motor launch edition Gen2 is sub-3 seconds. Drag races between Gen1 and Gen2 models at a drag strip resulted in Gen2 clocking 10.59 and Gen1, running about 11.56. There are lots of really fast sports cars that are slower than the new Gen2 R1T and it is the quickest production pickup truck on the street. In terms of performance, range is less than the tri-motor, which the presenter suggests might be the better buy for most people.
