Overview
Citroën is shaking up the affordable EV market with the all-new 2025 e-C3. The Extended Range trim, starting at €30,690, is the one to have, offering a more practical and versatile package than the base model. It’s a B-segment crossover that throws down the gauntlet to rivals by packing impressive comfort, funky styling, and solid everyday usability into a seriously compelling value proposition. It’s built to deliver Citroën’s signature “magic carpet ride” with its Advanced Comfort suspension, making it a standout choice for budget-conscious buyers who refuse to compromise on comfort.
What's New for 2025?
The 2025 e-C3 is brand-spanking new from the ground up, representing a radical departure from its predecessor. Built on the new Stellantis 'Smart Car' platform, it’s been completely reimagined as an electric-first crossover. This Extended Range model is a key part of the launch, introducing a larger 53.5 kWh battery pack option for the first time in the C3 lineup. The entire package, from its tough new SUV-like design to the innovative 'C-Zen Lounge' interior and comfort-focused suspension, is a fresh and bold statement in the European EV scene.
Design & Exterior
Ditching the old bubble-car vibe, the e-C3 boasts a confident, upright SUV stance. Its funky, modern aesthetic features the new, retro-inspired Citroën oval badge and distinctive C-shaped LED lighting signatures front and rear. Measuring 4395 mm in length, 1795 mm in width, and 1660 mm in height, it has a surprisingly commanding presence for a small car, helped by its increased ground clearance. The design cleverly blends rugged plastic cladding with sharp lines, giving it a cool, adventurous look that stands out in crowded city streets and supermarket car parks.
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Inside, the 'C-Zen Lounge' concept creates a minimalist and airy feel. The standout feature is a unique head-up display system that replaces a traditional instrument cluster, paired with a crisp 10.25-inch central touchscreen running wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Comfort is king, thanks to plush Advanced Comfort seats. Despite its compact size, it’s surprisingly practical, offering a generous 460-litre boot that expands to a massive 1600 litres with the seats folded down. As is common in this class, there is no frunk for extra storage up front.
Performance & Driving Experience
This is no traffic-light drag racer, but its performance is perfectly suited for its mission. The front-wheel-drive layout is powered by a single Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) producing 83 kW and 125 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes a leisurely 13 seconds. The real star is the ride quality; Citroën's Advanced Comfort suspension with hydraulic cushions simply glides over potholes and rough city streets, delivering a level of smoothness that embarrasses many larger, more expensive cars. It’s quiet, easy to drive, and incredibly relaxing.
Range, Battery & Charging
The Extended Range model packs a 53.5 kWh usable LFP battery, delivering a real-world range of approximately 343 kilometres, as calculated by Green Cars Compare. Its efficiency is solid at 6.41 km/kWh. For charging, it uses a standard CCS Type 2 port. At home on an AC charger, it accepts 7.4 kW as standard with an 11 kW onboard unit available optionally. When you need a quick top-up, it can handle DC fast charging at up to 100 kW, which can juice the battery from 20-80% in around 30 minutes.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
While an official Euro NCAP rating is still pending, the e-C3 comes equipped with a solid suite of modern safety kit as standard. Every model gets essentials like Active Safety Brake (an autonomous emergency braking system), lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, and rear parking sensors. To get more advanced features like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and a reversing camera, you will likely need to step up to a higher trim level or select an optional driver assistance package to add an extra digital co-pilot.
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
Citroën provides solid peace of mind for e-C3 owners. The vehicle itself is typically covered by a 2-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty in Europe. Crucially for an EV, the high-voltage battery pack comes with a separate, much longer warranty of 8 years or 160,000 kilometres, guaranteeing it will retain at least 70% of its original usable capacity during that period. Like all electric cars, maintenance is minimal, with no oil changes needed, which helps keep running costs incredibly low over the life of the car, adding to its excellent value.
