Overview
Citroën is shaking up the affordable EV scene with the all-new e-C3. The Comfort Range model is a game-changer, aiming to deliver accessible electric motoring without skimping on its trademark "magic carpet" ride. Its key selling point is the Advanced Comfort® suspension, promising to smooth out bumpy city streets like pricier rivals. With a compelling starting price of €23,300, it’s positioned to be a massive hit for budget-conscious European buyers. This little French hatchback brings a fresh, crossover-inspired style and practical tech to the masses.
What's New for 2025?
The 2025 e-C3 is a complete ground-up redesign, marking the debut of Citroën's cost-effective "Smart Car" platform. Everything is new, from its chunky SUV-like styling to the C-Zen Lounge interior concept. It's the first to feature Citroën's innovative Advanced Comfort® suspension in a small EV, paired with a durable and cost-effective LFP battery pack. This new-generation model ditches its predecessor's supermini roots for a bolder, more practical, and comfort-oriented approach designed to democratize electric mobility across Europe.
Design & Exterior
The e-C3 ditches the cute curves of old for a bold, upright stance inspired by SUVs. It’s a proper head-turner, featuring Citroën's new oval badge and distinctive three-segment LED light signatures. The look is modern and confident, with a high bonnet and sharp vertical lines. Its compact dimensions make it perfect for city life, measuring just 4015 mm long, 1755 mm wide, and 1577 mm tall. This trim adds a touch of style with its specific wheel designs and colour accents, making it look anything but a budget option.
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Inside, the e-C3 impresses with its "C-Zen Lounge" concept, which replaces a traditional driver's display with a sleek head-up strip. The cabin feels spacious and airy, with Citroën's famously squishy Advanced Comfort® seats making every journey relaxing. Technology is handled by a responsive 10.25-inch central touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Practicality is solid, offering a decent 310-litre boot that expands to a generous 1200 litres with the rear seats folded. There's no frunk, but rear passenger space is surprisingly good.
Performance & Driving Experience
The e-C3 isn't a hot hatch, and it doesn't pretend to be. Its single Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor delivers a modest 83 kW and 120 Nm of torque to the front wheels, resulting in a relaxed 0-100 km/h sprint of 11.5 seconds. The real story here is the ride quality. Thanks to the Progressive Hydraulic Cushions, the car glides over imperfections, delivering a level of comfort unheard of in this class. It’s quiet, smooth, and perfectly suited for navigating urban jungles and cruising on the motorway.
Range, Battery & Charging
Powering the e-C3 is a durable 44 kWh usable LFP battery pack. This provides a real-world range of approximately 280 km, as calculated by Green Cars Compare, with an impressive efficiency of 6.36 km/kWh. Charging is flexible, with a standard 7.4 kW AC onboard charger and an optional 11 kW upgrade. When you need a quick top-up, the e-C3 can handle up to 100 kW at a DC fast charger via its CCS Type 2 port, zapping the battery from 20-80% in around 26 minutes.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
While the 2025 e-C3 has not yet been rated by Euro NCAP, it comes equipped with a solid suite of standard safety tech. Every model includes essentials like Active Safety Brake (an autonomous emergency braking system), Active Lane Departure Warning, Speed Limit Information, and Driver Attention Alert. It also features rear parking sensors to make city manoeuvres a doddle. More advanced systems, such as adaptive cruise control, might be reserved for higher trims or optional packs, but the core safety package is comprehensive for its class.
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
Citroën provides solid peace of mind with its warranty package. The e-C3 comes with a standard 2-year, unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty across Europe. Crucially for an EV, the high-voltage battery is covered for 8 years or 160,000 kilometres, whichever comes first, with a guarantee to retain at least 70% of its original capacity. This comprehensive coverage, combined with the inherently lower maintenance needs of an electric powertrain, contributes to a low total cost of ownership, reinforcing the e-C3’s value proposition.
